Security Culture and Engagement Lead

As a Security Culture and Engagement Lead, you will work closely with the Associate Director, Cyber Culture & Capability and key stakeholders in Cyber Security, Physical Security, Risk, People & Culture, and Internal Communications. You will be responsible for embedding security-first behaviours throughout our organisation. This is an outstanding opportunity to develop how thousands of people understand security. What You’ll Do Leading the creation and implementation of Optus' annual Security Culture and Engagement program across cyber security, physical security, and protective security. Crafting and delivering innovative awareness campaigns, communications, and events that make security visible, relevant, and actionable for colleagues. Applying structured change management methodologies to drive adoption of security initiatives and embed secure behaviours across the organisation. Building, growing, and activating a Security Champions network to build local advocates and strengthen security culture across business units. Developing compelling multi-channel content across digital, video, intranet, leadership communications, social platforms, and events. Planning and managing flagship awareness events including Cyber Security Awareness Month and targeted campaigns aligned to emerging risks and business priorities. Equipping leaders with tools, resources, and messaging to champion security behaviours within their teams. Crafting engaging training and learning experiences that improve awareness, capability, and compliance outcomes. Measuring the efficiency of campaigns and programs through engagement metrics, sentiment analysis, and behavioural indicators. Partnering with risk, security, and communications teams to translate threat intelligence and human risk insights into meaningful colleague engagement strategies. Maintaining and improving security communication channels, including SharePoint and collaboration platforms, as trusted sources of security information. Building external industry networks and staying informed on emerging trends in security culture, awareness, and behaviour change. What You Bring 3-5+ years' experience in internal communications, change management, culture programs, colleague engagement, learning, or security awareness roles. Proven ability to implement behaviour change initiatives through established change methodologies like PROSCI, ADKAR, or comparable frameworks. Proven ability to develop engaging content and campaigns for diverse audiences across multiple communication channels. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organisation. Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Experience organizing and managing events, campaigns, or engagement programs on a large scale. Strong project management and organisational capabilities, with the ability to prioritise several tasks simultaneously. A data-driven approach with experience measuring engagement outcomes and using insights to continuously improve performance. Creative thinking, storytelling capability, and a genuine passion for helping people make better security decisions. Experience in telecommunications, financial services, healthcare, government, or other regulated industries. Experience managing colleague ambassador or champion networks. Experience in cyber security, risk management, privacy, physical security, or security awareness initiatives.
