Overview SMC is seeking a Security Systems Designer to support physical security design for mission critical and data center projects. This role requires hands-on Autodesk Revit experience and a background designing electronic security systems within commercial, industrial, or similar building environments. Responsibilities Design electronic security systems including Access Control, Video Surveillance/CCTV, Intrusion Detection, and Intercom systems. Produce security device layouts, riser diagrams, details, device schedules, and cable schedules. Develop and maintain security drawings and construction documents using Autodesk Revit. Support the development of Division 28 construction documents and specifications. Coordinate access control requirements with architects and door hardware teams. Coordinate security requirements, pathways, and power with ICT, Electrical, MEP, Controls, and other disciplines. Review client standards, Basis of Design (BOD), design criteria, and project requirements and incorporate them into design documents. Support projects throughout design and construction, including RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews, and design revisions. Participate in multidisciplinary coordination and project meetings. Perform site surveys and field observations as needed. Maintain project deadlines and manage multiple design assignments. Travel to project sites as required, typically less than 10%. Required Qualifications 2+ years of professional physical/electronic security systems design experience. Professional hands-on Autodesk Revit experience producing security design drawings and construction documents. Experience designing Access Control, Video Surveillance/CCTV, Intrusion Detection, and/or Intercom systems. Experience developing construction drawings such as device layouts, riser diagrams, schedules, details, and related security documentation. Experience coordinating security systems with architecture, electrical, ICT, or other building disciplines. Understanding of physical security design standards and construction documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Division 28 specifications and documentation. Experience within an engineering, MEP, technology, or security consulting environment. Experience with mission critical or data center projects. Familiarity with common Access Control (ACS) and Video Management Systems (VMS) platforms. Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar design/construction tools. Compensation & Benefits: Base Compensation: $75,000 - $100,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skills and/or location) SMC offers a competitive benefits package, with a 36-hour standard work week, hybrid working arrangement, 13 paid holidays, 100% coverage of medical, health, and dental insurance premiums for our full-time employees, and reimbursement of professional licensing costs.
