About the Team

You’ll be joining our Business Management team, a group of 10 individuals, part of a wider staff of 65 people at Dales Evans , who have now joined forces with BKL.

This team has a portfolio of music clients supporting them with day-to-day bookkeeping, tour accounting, business management and other financial matters.

We pride ourselves on being experienced in handling the financial management, accounting, taxation, VAT, royalties and tour accounting and offer a flexible hybrid working approach, study support and exposure to progression routes.

A Message from the Hiring Manager

I’m really excited to welcome someone new into our team. You’ll find a team that’s ambitious but down-to-earth, where people care about doing excellent work and about each other. Working in a collaborative and meritocratic environment. If you’re curious, proactive, and ready to grow, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Opportunity

To take ownership of day to day operational, administrative, and accounting support to the Assistant Manager and wider Business Management team. The role ensures timely delivery of client work, smooth internal workflow, and high quality financial administration across a portfolio of touring, artist, and entertainment clients.

How You’ll Make a Difference

In this role, you will:

Financial Administration & Processing

  • Prepare and/or review payment runs, including preparing backup, verifying approvals and compiling support for touring and other clients.

  • Process invoices, monitor approval chains, and maintain payment tracking logs.

  • Take ownership of bookkeeping tasks including posting expenses, income, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Monitor cashflow and fund management.

Client Support & Communication

  • Be the day-to-day contact for clients, draft and send client ready summaries, payment confirmations, chasing emails, and general correspondence.

  • Liaise with clients, agents, promoters, suppliers, and external advisers to obtain information and resolve queries.

  • Maintain excellent client service standards, ensuring timely responses and professional communication.

Management Accounts & Reporting

  • Preparation of management accounts and VAT workings.

  • Gather bank statements, ledgers and third party reports to support reporting deadlines.

  • Preparation of commission reports and other ad hoc reports.

  • Assist with royalty analysis.

Touring & Event-Specific Support

  • Review and organise documentation for touring clients including FEUs, CWAs, show revenues, production costs, settlement packs, arranging relevant insurance, and work on other tax mitigating work.

  • Track supplier invoices (e.g., rigging, lighting, backline) and raise them for approval promptly.

  • Prepare end of tour / event-specific accounts.

Internal Workflow & Task Organisation

  • Manage a portfolio of clients and prioritise workload to meet multiple competing deadlines.

  • Work with the Assistant Manager and wider Business Management team in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll Be Ideal for This Role If You Have:

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self review.

  • Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines across a busy client portfolio.

  • Confident and clear communicator with strong telephone and written skills for client facing work.

  • Proactive approach, willing to “get stuck in” and learn touring, artist management and business management processes.

  • Competency in Excel, accounting software, and document management systems.

  • Positive, professional attitude with strong teamworking skills.

Experience & Qualifications (Ideal)

  • Prior experience (approx. 3 years) in bookkeeping, payments, VAT returns or management accounts in a practice or entertainment sector environment.

  • ACA/ACCA/AAT trainee or interest in beginning training is advantageous (aligned with the structure of the team).

  • Familiarity with entertainment/touring clients beneficial but not essential.

The semi-senior bookkeeper will enable the team to:

  • Focus on higher level management accounts and complex client work.

  • Deliver faster turnaround on payment runs, cashflows and management reports.

  • Maintain consistent client communication and improve workflow efficiency.

  • Support the Business Management team in scaling workload across multiple high profile clients.

We know you have a lot to offer, which is why we give you the freedom to thrive, no matter who you are or what your background is.
