Senior 3D Vision Engineer - Surfaces and Topography

VERIDAPT
Posted 4 hours ago
🇦🇺Australia🏢Hybrid📁Engineering & Development
Is this job info correct?

You'll take ownership of VERIDAPT's 3D processing and computer vision capability, developing new algorithms and 3D processing models.

The core role will be building models to reconstruct stockpiles from incomplete data and produce reliable volumetric measurements for customers. You'll apply geometric constraints, material physics and 3D processing techniques to reconstruct what sensors cannot see and filter out what is not important.

What you'll be doing

  • Design and develop 3D processing and spatial filtering algorithms
  • Design and develop geometric models for representing real-world 3D data
  • Gather, experiment with and validate models against real-world spatial data, particularly for volumetric analysis
  • erogress solutions from concept through field trials into production
  • Evaluate cameras, LiDAR sensors and edge computing hardware
  • Own and maintain processing libraries, datasets, tools and processing pipelines
  • Work with other teams to deploy algorithms and models through external software and hardware products
  • Work alongside software, platform and hardware engineers to deliver customer solutions
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites for captures, commissioning and field trials

What we're looking for

You'll likely bring experience in several of the following:

  • Strong experience with 3D data processing, geometric models and surface reconstruction
  • Strong experience gathering and processing real-world data, ideally LiDAR or depth sensing
  • Strong experience with Python, particularly numerical, scientific and geometric libraries
  • Taking technical ownership and delivering solutions into production
  • Working independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • A strong mathematical background e.g. linear algebra and vector calculus

Bonus points if you have

Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:

  • Experience in surveying, geospatial, photogrammetry, robotics and SLAM, or medical imaging
  • LiDAR hardware in the field
  • Experience with camera calibration, sensor fusion and IMU data
  • Bulk materials domain knowledge
  • Mining, industrial automation or IoT
  • Surfaces or shape completion from partial observations
  • Experience with metrology

Why this role is different

This is a unique opportunity within the field of computer vision, going well beyond the use of standard libraries and off-the-shelf solutions. You’ll work on bespoke algorithm development to solve complex real-world problems as well as deploying them in the field.

What we offer

  • Genuine hybrid working (Sydney preferred, remote considered for the right candidate)
  • Laptop provided
  • $299 annual wellbeing allowance
  • 2 additional VERI GOOD Days each year to support your wellbeing or volunteer in the community
  • Additional paid parental leave
  • Employee Assistance Program including coaching and counselling
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • $3,000 employee referral bonus
  • A collaborative team solving complex engineering problems with real-world impact

About VERIDAPT

VERIDAPT combines industrial hardware, IoT, cloud software and AI to help customers improve safety, efficiency and sustainability across global supply chains.

We're a team of engineers, problem solvers and innovators who enjoy tackling complex challenges and turning them into practical solutions that customers rely on every day.

If you're looking for an opportunity where you'll have genuine ownership, see your work deployed in the field, and help shape the future of industrial computer vision we'd love to hear from you.
