About the Role
This role description outlines the core responsibilities of a Senior Account Director (SAD) at Greenpark. However, a job description should not be viewed as a fixed set of boundaries. In a business like ours, we encourage proactive thinking, collaboration, and contribution beyond defined responsibilities.
The Senior Account Director is a key role within Client Services. As a SAD, you are seen by clients as the lead across your accounts – responsible for ensuring the smooth, strategic delivery of multiple projects while deepening client partnerships and driving growth.
You work closely with both client and internal teams to keep delivery teams on track, proactively solving issues and keeping momentum high. You build strong, senior-level relationships across the client’s organisation (including their partners and agencies), positioning yourself as a trusted partner who understands not just their needs, but their broader business priorities. You are comfortable challenging client feedback when necessary on SOWs, strategy, creative, ways of working and most importantly able to offer solutions that benefit the client and the agency with ease.
You should have full visibility of the client’s annual budget and be confident navigating commercial conversations, challenging out of scope requests, spotting opportunities for growth, upselling strategically and shaping the partnership for the long term.
Your role is to lead with perspective: understand the client’s world, guide your teams to deliver effectively, and ensure every interaction adds value to the relationship.
Why the Job Exists
- To lead and grow trusted, senior client relationships across assigned accounts, positioning Greenpark as a strategic partner
- To drive organic account growth and contribute to overall business targets and profitability
- To ensure consistent, high-quality strategic delivery across projects and accounts
- To support and connect both junior and senior CS team members, keeping accounts running smoothly and to a high standard
- To act as a reliable commercial and strategic point of contact for both clients and internal stakeholders
- To support the development of more junior Client Services team members, helping to raise the standard of strategic thinking across the team
Scope of the Role
- Owning senior client relationships across assigned accounts and projects
- Supporting the Client Lead on account strategy, long-term account planning and oversight of delivery quality
- Commercial growth and revenue accountability, including identifying upsell opportunities and expanding the scope of partnerships
- Account/workstream profitability (alongside the PM Lead)
- External and internal reporting, communication and stakeholder management
- Supporting and connecting junior CS team members on your accounts while keeping your CS Lead informed and aligned
Responsibilities
Client Relationships
- Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, acting as the senior day-to-day lead across your workstreams/account
- Develop a deep understanding of each client’s business, their industry, key competitors, commercial pressures, objectives and challenges, in order to proactively identify opportunities and solutions
- Understand your client on a personal level, becoming their trusted advisor – knowing how they like to communicate, their career aspirations and frustrations, and how Greenpark can support them
- Lead difficult or sensitive conversations with clarity, empathy and professionalism – including navigating challenging feedback, resetting expectations, challenging client direction (SOW, creative, WoW) and resolving misalignment, while maintaining strong long-term relationships
- Maintain regular contact with clients beyond formal meetings, taking a genuine interest in them as individuals and in the success of their business
- Ensure client satisfaction remains high, positioning Greenpark as a trusted long-term partner
- Where relevant, work closely with local and global client stakeholders to maintain consistency, quality and satisfaction across markets
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry developments and keep your team informed accordingly
Strategic Leadership
- Take ownership of the strategic direction on your accounts/workstreams, working closely with Strategy and your CS Lead to shape long-term thinking and ensure work is consistently aligned to what matters most to clients
- Alongside your CS Lead, drive account plans and QBRs, presenting them with clarity and conviction, owning the agency’s recommendations in front of clients and influencing conversations at a senior level
- Ensure every brief, recommendation and output is connected to a clear strategic purpose (and push back on the client if we don’t agree) – not just ensuring quality but raising the bar on what great looks like and holding the team to that standard
- Bring a strong, informed point of view grounded in a deep understanding of the client’s category, customer and competitive landscape; use this knowledge to challenge assumptions, bring fresh thinking and strengthen Greenpark’s strategic offering
- Proactively identify growth opportunities – in real time and off the back of key meetings such as QBRs, monthly reporting or briefings – guiding the team and clients beyond the day-to-day
- Coach junior CS team members to stretch their own strategic thinking, helping them ask better questions and draw meaningful insights from performance
- Set the tone for a proactive, insight-led culture on your accounts – always pushing the work, the team and the client’s thinking forward
Forecasting & KPIs
- Confidently translate high-level client objectives into clear, measurable KPIs, engaging the right internal specialists where needed and ensuring these are cascaded across your team so everyone understands what we’re driving towards and, most importantly, why it matters
- Play a critical role in forecasting and business planning, working closely with Snr BD and HoCS to develop robust, insight-led projections
- Proactively monitor performance, identifying early signals that may require intervention and flagging risks before they become issues
- Move beyond surface-level data to uncover the drivers behind results, explore hypotheses and identify opportunities to influence performance effectively
- When challenges arise, rally the right people to craft a considered response and communicate this clearly and confidently to clients
Commercial Growth
- Support the Client Lead to deliver against revenue targets for assigned accounts through client retention, organic growth, strategic upsell and expansion opportunities
- Maintain full visibility of the client’s annual budget and be confident leading commercial conversations at a senior level
- Proactively identify upsell and growth opportunities – including in different departments, business units and markets within existing client relationships
- Work collaboratively with department leads and senior management to implement account growth strategies and support wider business development objectives
- Identify opportunities for cross-market and cross-office collaboration across the wider Greenpark network
- Maintain strong visibility of account performance (including profit margin), forecasting, pipeline opportunities and revenue risk
Financial Performance
- Work closely with Project Management, Operations and Finance teams to monitor budgets, project profitability and resource allocation
- Maintain detailed and accurate project forecasting and revenue tracking, including keeping the 4MF updated on a weekly basis
- Lead client conversations relating to additional scope, budget changes or unexpected expenditures
- Escalate financial risks or concerns to the Client Lead/HoCS and Finance Dept where appropriate
- Ensure all relevant finance administration (PO numbers, billing trackers, invoice management) is maintained accurately and on time
Ways of Working
- Act in the best interests of the Company and its Shareholders at all times
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and respect across all areas of the business
- Be the calm in the storm and a safe pair of hands when things are moving at pace or become particularly tricky due to internal politics and/or client deadlines
- Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across departments, fellow managers and leadership teams
- When it comes to engaging in internal processes such as briefing, writing SOWs, internal reviews etc., set and maintain high standards, leading by example in both behaviour and performance
- Inspire, motivate and communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and clients alike
- Recognise strong performance and provide constructive feedback where appropriate
- Maintain awareness of team wellbeing, pressures and challenges and support solutions where possible
