About WorkGuruWorkGuru is a fast-growing, founder-led SaaS company building job management and operational software for fabrication workshops, engineering firms, manufacturers and commercial trades.
Our customers are businesses that build, make and fix things. They use WorkGuru to manage quoting, jobs, purchasing, stock, timesheets, scheduling and invoicing, all connected to their accounting software.
These businesses have been underserved by software for years. The options have often been too basic to run a growing operation, or too complex and expensive to be practical.
We're changing that.
WorkGuru is an established, profitable Australian software company, with hundreds of customers across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and other international markets. We're growing quickly, investing in our product and team, and taking market share from traditional job management and ERP systems.
Now we're investing in our UK and EMEA operations, and we're looking for someone exceptional to help drive that growth.
We're looking for a Senior Account Executive to take ownership of new business sales across the UK and EMEA, working remotely from South Africa.
You'll be our first dedicated salesperson for the region, joining alongside a new Customer Success Manager, with support from our existing UK partners and Australian sales, product and onboarding teams.
The product is built, and it works.
Hundreds of businesses already rely on WorkGuru to run their operations. You'll have existing customers, an established product, inbound enquiries and a proven sales process to build from.
But this isn't a job where you sit around waiting for marketing to send you leads.
We're looking for someone who can take ownership of a market, build relationships, create opportunities and consistently win new customers.
You'll own the full sales cycle, from first conversation through discovery, demonstration, proposal, negotiation and close.
As the region grows, there's a genuine opportunity to help build and potentially lead the sales team that follows.
What you'll be doingOwning sales and revenue growth
- Taking responsibility for new customer acquisition and revenue growth across your territory.
- Responding quickly to inbound enquiries, qualifying opportunities and moving prospects through the sales process.
- Proactively building your own pipeline through outbound prospecting, partner relationships, referrals and re-engaging previous enquiries.
- Running consultative discovery conversations that uncover how a business operates, where it's losing money or time, and what needs to change.
- Delivering tailored product demonstrations that connect WorkGuru's capabilities directly to a customer's problems.
- Managing proposals, objections, negotiations and follow-ups through to close.
- Maintaining a disciplined pipeline in HubSpot, with clear next steps and reliable forecasting.
Working with customers and the team
- Becoming genuinely knowledgeable about how fabrication, engineering and manufacturing businesses operate.
- Working closely with our Customer Success Manager to ensure new customers move smoothly from sale to implementation.
- Remaining commercially involved where needed during onboarding, without handing responsibility for the sales process over to customer success.
- Collaborating with our Australian sales, product and leadership teams to improve how we sell and serve the UK market.
- Building relationships with existing UK partners and developing new referral opportunities.
Helping build the region
- Learning what makes UK and EMEA customers different, and helping refine our messaging and approach.
- Identifying new industries, customer segments and partnerships worth pursuing.
- Providing practical feedback to our product and marketing teams based on what customers actually need.
- Helping establish the processes and standards that future regional hires will build upon.
We're more interested in what you've achieved, how you sell and how you think than where you've worked or which sales methodology you've been taught.
You'll need:
- At least 3 years of B2B sales experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage opportunities from initial conversation through to close.
- Experience selling software, technology or business solutions to SMB and mid-market customers.
- A track record of achieving sales targets and generating your own opportunities, not just converting inbound leads.
- Strong discovery skills. You can ask good questions, understand how a business works and identify the commercial value of solving its problems.
- The ability to learn a relatively complex product quickly and explain it simply.
- Confidence running demonstrations, handling objections and asking for the sale.
- Excellent spoken and written English, with a direct, clear communication style.
- Experience working with UK or European customers, or the ability to adapt comfortably to those markets.
- The discipline and initiative to work independently in a remote environment.
- The right to work in South Africa.
You'll have a real advantage if you:
- Have sold SaaS to trades, engineering, manufacturing, construction or field service businesses.
- Understand how workshops operate, including quoting, job costing, inventory, purchasing and production.
- Have experience with ERP, job management, accounting or other operational business software.
- Have worked in a growing SaaS business where you've needed to create pipeline as well as close it.
- Have helped establish a new sales territory or supported the growth of a small sales team.
- Are familiar with HubSpot, Xero or QuickBooks.
You don't need to know everything about fabrication or ERP software on day one. But you do need to be curious, commercially minded and willing to learn.
You'll probably enjoy this role if:
- You'd rather have a proper conversation with a business owner than follow a rigid sales script.
- You enjoy figuring out how a business makes money, where things go wrong and how software can improve it.
- You don't wait for someone to tell you what to do next.
- You understand that prospecting and pipeline generation are part of being a great salesperson, not a punishment for a quiet week.
- You're comfortable being accountable for your results.
- You can be persistent without being pushy, and confident without being arrogant.
- You want the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, rather than simply inherit an established sales territory.
We're not looking for someone who needs a large corporate sales structure, an SDR booking every meeting or a manager telling them what to do each day.
We are looking for someone who enjoys selling, takes ownership and wants to grow with the business.
A real opportunity to make an impact
You'll be taking ownership of a growing international territory, with the autonomy to influence how we develop it.
An established product with genuine demand
You're not selling a concept, a roadmap or an unfinished platform. WorkGuru is proven, with existing customers, inbound opportunities and a product that solves real operational problems.
The opportunity to grow into leadership
We're building for long-term international growth. As the region expands, we want to create opportunities for strong performers to step into larger roles, including sales leadership.
Direct access to the people making decisions
We're founder-led, with a relatively small team and very little bureaucracy. You'll work directly with senior leadership and the people who build and develop the product.
Training with our Australian team
Your onboarding will include planned in-person training at our Brisbane headquarters, working with our sales, product and customer teams to develop a deep understanding of WorkGuru.
Competitive earnings
A competitive base salary, uncapped commission and the opportunity to be rewarded for the revenue you generate.
Remote working with flexibility
You'll work remotely from South Africa, primarily during South African business hours. Some earlier starts will be needed for collaboration and handovers with the Australian team, along with flexibility to accommodate UK customer meetings.
WorkGuru isn't a corporate environment, and we're not trying to become one.
We're a profitable, founder-led business that's growing quickly because we've built software that solves real problems for businesses that have been overlooked for too long.
We value initiative, good judgement, direct communication and people who get things done.
We'd rather try something, learn from it and improve than spend months debating the perfect approach.
You'll have support, access to the people you need and the freedom to do your job well. In return, we'll expect you to take ownership, contribute ideas and deliver results.
If that sounds like the kind of environment where you'd do your best work, we'd like to hear from you.
Send us your CV and a short cover letter telling us why you're right for this opportunity.
We'd particularly like to hear about:
- What you've sold, who you've sold it to, and the results you've achieved.
- How you've built your own pipeline rather than relying entirely on inbound leads.
- Why taking ownership of a growing international territory appeals to you.
- We're much more interested in what you can do than how polished your CV looks.
