SENIOR ACCOUNTANT


Position purpose


Finora Bank is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team and support the Bank’s daily accounting and financial reporting activities.


The role includes accounting for the Bank’s loan and deposit portfolios, processing purchase and sales invoices, accounting for accruals and deferrals and performing other various accounting tasks.


This position offers an opportunity to gain practical accounting and regulatory reporting experience within a specialized bank while working closely with experienced Finance professionals.


What will you be doing?


Accounting for loan and deposit portfolios


  • Record loan disbursements, repayments, interest, fees and other portfolio movements from the core banking system in Business Central, and reconcile the general ledger to the loan subledger.
  • Account for deposit portfolio movements, including new deposits, withdrawals, interest accruals and payments, and reconcile deposit balances with core banking system data.
  • Calculate and post monthly interest income and expense accruals, and defer loan origination fees and commissions using the effective interest rate method under IFRS 9.
  • Post monthly expected credit loss (ECL) allowances, write-offs and recoveries based on data provided by the Risk function, and reconcile them with the loan portfolio.
  • Prepare loan and deposit portfolio data for monthly financial statements, management reporting and regulatory reporting (FINREP, COREP), and investigate and resolve discrepancies.


Processing of purchase and sales invoices


  • Process purchase invoices through the Fitek system, including data entry, setting up approval workflows, and exporting invoices to Business Central.
  • Register purchase invoices in the accounting system and ensure that supporting documents are properly stored in SharePoint.
  • Issue and maintain sales invoices.
  • Prepare monthly cost invoice summaries and reconcile them against revenue reports and data from the core banking systems.


Team support


  • Support the smooth operation of the Finance function by assisting with various accounting activities.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new team members and interns.
  • Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Chief Accountant or arising from applicable legislation, internal policies, or other lawful requirements.


What will help you succeed?


  • A BSc or MSc in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or an equivalent field, or current studies in one of these areas.
  • Relevant accounting experience in a financial institution would be an advantage.
  • A good understanding of IFRS, accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with Business Central, Fitek or similar systems would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements would be an advantage.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken Lithuanian and English.
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to accuracy.
  • The ability to organize tasks, meet deadlines, and take responsibility for assigned work.
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to learn.
