Lions International is the largest service club organization in the world. Our 1.4 million members are serving locally and globally to help take on some of the biggest challenges facing humanity.
Every Lion and club are supported by our international association. More than 300 Lions International staff members are constantly working on tools and technology to enhance Lions’ service. When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s an incredible feeling for everyone involved.
Here's how you can help -- we are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team, rise to the challenge of empowering service, and fill a vital role in our organization. As the Senior Accountant, you'll apply advanced accounting knowledge to maintain accurate records, reconcile complex accounts, and prepare financial statements and disclosures. You'll play an integral role in supporting the financial operations and reporting of Lions Clubs International and related entities. You'll own a broad range of responsibilities, including preparing financial reporting, analyzing financial results, researching accounting standards, and collaborating with external auditors. You'll also partner across divisions to resolve complex accounting concepts, improve processes, and strengthen internal controls.
What You’ll Do:
Financial reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Validate system inputs, prepare supporting schedules, and ensure accurate and timely completion of deliverables.
Account reconciliations: Analyze general ledger accounts and financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness; investigate unusual balances and significant variances; and recommend and implement appropriate corrections.
Month-end and year-end close: Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, allocations, and adjusting entries. Account for intercompany transactions and balances among LCI, LCIF, and other related entities, coordinating with relevant teams to resolve any discrepancies.
Technical accounting: Research accounting questions, apply applicable accounting standards, and document conclusions. Review work and provide technical guidance to other accounting staff as assigned.
Financial analysis: Analyze account balances and fluctuations, explaining significant changes, and identifying errors or unusual activity. Apply advanced system and spreadsheet capabilities to develop analyses and reports, streamline accounting processes, and improve the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
Audit support: Prepare audit schedules, related disclosures, and supporting schedules. Coordinate audit documentation; and research and respond to internal and external audit inquiries.
Internal controls: Partner with the Controller and Compliance team to evaluate, document, and strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls, identify control gaps, and implement process improvements.
Process improvement: Improve accounting procedures, reporting, and system use to increase accuracy and efficiency. Cross train on key accounting functions to provide departmental coverage, share technical knowledge, and support continuity of operations.
We’re Looking for Someone With:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of three years of related accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, and experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and monthly and year-end close processes. Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with an ERP system are required.
Compensation: Exempt: $83,000-88,000
