Description
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in accounting and financial reporting across the Company’s multiple entities and brands: driving the month-end close, preparing and analyzing financial statements, supporting audits, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate pairs a strong U.S. GAAP foundation with an operational mindset, attention to detail, and a drive to improve processes in a fast-paced environment.
Location:
Memphis, TN (Hybrid – primarily in office)
Key Responsibilities
- General Accounting & Close: Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, reclasses, allocations, payroll); reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly; manage intercompany transactions and eliminations; support monthly, quarterly, and annual close for multiple entities on tight deadlines.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules; explain variances in margins, labor, and operating expenses; partner with operations on job cost integrity; maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Systems & Process: Serve as the key liaison between ServiceTitan (operations) and Spectrum (ERP) to ensure accurate data flow and reconciliations; refine data imports, reporting automation, and controls; standardize accounting procedures across entities.
- Support & Collaboration: Support audits, financial reviews, and budgeting; lead Accounts Receivable progress analysis across all brands; train and guide AP, AR, and Payroll staff on coding, cutoff, and system workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA helpful but not required.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity, corporate, or private equity–owned environment.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP, month-end close, and supporting external audits.
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum, ServiceTitan, or similar ERP systems is helpful; advanced Excel skills.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Operational understanding: Knows how labor, materials, and overhead flow from the field into the financial statements.
- Ownership and curiosity: Follows issues through to resolution and asks “why” when numbers move.
- Continuous improvement: Standardizes, automates, and simplifies rather than repeating manual workarounds.
- Communication: Explains results in plain terms to operations, raises issues early with recommended solutions, and works confidently with auditors.
- Integrity and discretion: Handles sensitive financial and payroll information with professionalism.
Setting You Up for Success
Structured onboarding on our entities, chart of accounts, close calendar, and ServiceTitan-to-Spectrum workflows; direct access to the Divisional Controller for guidance and regular check-ins; and the opportunity to shape accounting processes and systems as the organization grows.
