Senior Tax Accountant (Canadian Accounting)

Remote Accounting 24x7 is a venture of Lets Chat 24x7 IT Services Pvt. Ltd., providing remote accounting and bookkeeping solutions to CPA firms across Canada. Our Canadian operations are based in Edmonton, Alberta, where we support public accounting firms with bookkeeping, taxation, financial reporting, payroll, and advisory services.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant with a strong background in Canadian Public Accounting to join our growing team.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Canadian public accounting with a strong focus on year-end accounting, tax compliance, and client service.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage Compilation Engagements (Year-End Engagements) from trial balance to finalized financial statements.
- Prepare and file T1 Individual Income Tax Returns accurately and within deadlines.
- Prepare and review T2 Corporate Tax Returns, including year-end tax adjustments and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and file T-Slips (T4, T5, etc.) and related CRA filings.
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping on a monthly or quarterly basis using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns while ensuring CRA compliance.
- Assist with Canadian Payroll processing, including payroll calculations, deductions, remittances, and year-end payroll reporting (preferred).
- Maintain accurate accounting records, reconciliations, and working papers.
- Communicate professionally with clients to resolve accounting and tax-related queries.
- Ensure assignments are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience working with a Canadian Public Accounting firm.

- T1 Individual Tax Returns
- T2 Corporate Tax Returns
- Full-Cycle Bookkeeping
- GST/HST Return Preparation
- T-Slip Preparation
- Compilation Engagements (Year-End Accounting)
- Excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Experience with CaseWare will be considered a strong asset (not mandatory).
- Knowledge of Canadian Payroll is an added advantage.
- Experience with Canadian tax software such as TaxPrep, TaxCycle, Profile, or CCH iFirm is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and CRA compliance.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple client engagements.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA/CA designation or actively pursuing CPA.
- Experience working with Canadian CPA firms.
- Ability to review work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality client service.

- ⭐ CaseWare knowledge (preferred, not mandatory)
- ⭐ Canadian Payroll knowledge (added advantage)
This role is ideal for candidates with solid Canadian public accounting experience who can independently manage year-end engagements, taxation, and bookkeeping while delivering exceptional service to Canadian CPA firm clients.
Requirements
- 3-6 years of hands-on experience in Canadian accounting and taxation
- Strong expertise in T1 & T2 tax returns and compilations & engagement experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other similar Bookkeeping software
- Experience with CaseWare preferred but not mandatory, Profile and CCH-I-firm, or similar tax software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple client portfolios
