Senior Accountant, Government Contract Accounting

Build your GovCon accounting career while helping a rapidly growing, private equity-backed company expand its consulting practice. Your work will directly support government-contractor clients—and help establish the reliable delivery that growth depends on.

Full-time | Fully remote | $95,000–$115,000 base + 5–10% target performance bonus

Own the technical delivery that keeps government contractors running: accurate books, dependable closes, and clear project reporting. You’ll work across client engagements alongside an Accounting Manager or Controller, building depth in government-contract accounting without carrying a client portfolio or staff-management mandate.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver month-end close, balance-sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and close packages.
  • Handle payroll, labor distribution, AP/AR, project setup, and day-to-day accounting.
  • Prepare job-cost and management reports; explain results and answer clients’ technical questions.
  • Apply GAAP and government-contract accounting requirements; support audit workpapers and special projects.
  • Manage deadlines across engagements and help improve how the work gets done.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with government-contract exposure.
  • Hands-on GAAP, FAR, DCAA, and CAS knowledge, including cost allowability and indirect cost allocation.
  • Experience with Unanet, QuickBooks, Deltek Costpoint, or a comparable accounting system.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent related experience.
  • U.S. citizenship, as required by client contracts.

Prior success delivering accounting services in a consulting environment is strongly preferred. Unanet plus QuickBooks is especially valuable. CPA preferred, not required.

Why this move

Gain depth across different government-contractor clients, work closely with experienced Accounting Managers and Controllers, and contribute ideas that improve the practice’s delivery. As your expertise and the business grow, take on more complex engagements and broader responsibility from a strong technical starting point.

Performance bonus is a target, not guaranteed compensation.

Compensation

Base salary is $95,000–$115,000 annually, plus a 5–10% target performance bonus.
