We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant that will be a member of Xylem's Shared Services Accounting Team (AAC) to support the month-end close process, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple business units. This role will play a critical part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records while ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and company accounting policies.
The ideal candidate will possess strong general ledger expertise, experience with month-end close activities, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, shared services or multi-entity environment. Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, BlackLine, and OneStream is highly desirable.
This role will be based in our Charlotte, NC office and work a hybrid (in office 3 days per week) schedule.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in support of month-end closing activities for multiple business units, ensuring proper documentation is obtained
- Accruals and pre-paid journal entries
- Inter-company balancing, adjustments and reconciliation
- Payroll, severance, employee benefit and tax related journal entries
- Journal entry submissions in Blackline, SAP & Winshuttle Evolve
- Prepare and maintain schedules, roll-forwards, reporting templates, and other accounting support files.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger identifying out of balances and their causes, resolving the possibility of future issues
- Respond to accounting and general ledger inquiries from business partners.
- Provide documentation and support of entries to assist with interim and annual audits requests for both internal and external partners.
- Assist with ad hoc projects and analyses as requested
- Maintain documentation supporting Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
- Consistently evaluate areas for process improvement.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency through standardization, automation, and best practices.
- Ability to adapt and effectively interact with teams at different states and facilities
Senior Accountant Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience
- Must possess strong analytical skills and working knowledge of the general ledger.
- Competency with advanced Microsoft Excel functions
- Experience with Oracle, SAP ECC6/S4 or other ERP accounting systems
- Experience with BlackLine, OneStream, or similar financial close and reconciliation tools.
- Experience working in a shared services environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing is a plus.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
