Job Overview

WHO WE ARE
Relativity is a leading legal data intelligence company building technology that helps users organize data, discover the truth, and act on it with confidence. Our AI-powered, cloud platform, RelativityOne, transforms massive volumes of complex information into actionable insights for litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries, data breach responses, and other high-stakes legal work where accuracy and trust are crucial.
The world’s largest law firms, corporations, and government agencies rely on Relativity’s legal AI software to securely surface and manage the most relevant and impactful information in their matters. Beyond our commercial impact, we are committed to expanding access to technology and supporting pro bono legal work.

WHAT WE DO
At Relativity, engineers do more than write code - they build systems that let users uncover insights from complex data at scale using cloud-native architecture, AI, and modern tools.
The AI Platform group builds the agentic foundation that powers Relativity’s AI products, including aiR Assist and ClaiR. The Agent Harness team owns the runtime that runs our agents, including agent orchestration, tool and skill execution, memory, and the protocols that allow agents to interact with each other and with external systems.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior AI Engineer on the Agent Harness team, you will shape the architecture of Relativity’s agent runtime, adopting industry frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, and Deep Agents and adapting them to Relativity’s needs so every Relativity agent has a strong runtime foundation.
You will help mature the harness with capabilities such as long-session handling and broader protocol support, ensuring the platform is prepared for the growing scale of agentic workloads across products like ClaiR and aiR Assist.
You will determine which agent patterns become first-class platform capabilities and design clean abstractions that application teams can adopt without rebuilding foundational runtime functionality.
This role operates in a rapidly evolving AI ecosystem, requiring continuous exploration of emerging agent architectures and platform capabilities.

Job Description and Requirements

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including strong and recent Python experience building production systems.

  • Hands-on experience designing and building LLM-powered or agentic systems using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent technologies.

  • Experience with tool calling, orchestration, and agent state management.

  • Demonstrated strength in solution architecture and design, including creating reusable abstractions and foundational building blocks for other engineers.

  • Solid understanding of modern asynchronous Python, API and service design, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.

  • Experience delivering cloud-native systems in Azure or similar cloud environments using CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • English proficiency for technical communication.

Preferred

  • Experience with Deep Agents, multi-agent or subagent architectures, agent memory, or human-in-the-loop workflows.

  • Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) interoperability.

  • Experience building platform capabilities and developer-focused infrastructure used by multiple engineering teams.

  • Experience with RAG and retrieval systems, citation frameworks, and evaluation of LLM output quality.

  • Familiarity with observability, tracing, and evaluation tooling such as MLflow and OpenTelemetry.

  • Experience supporting safe model upgrades through evaluation frameworks and testing practices.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
