Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer (Agentic Systems & Automation) to lead the development of AI-powered automation across the company.
The role will focus on designing and deploying reliable AI agents, document-processing pipelines, internal assistants and automation tools for technical and corporate teams.
You will report to the AI Lead and work closely with Data Engineering and business teams.
This is a hybrid role in Madrid. Fully remote candidates may also be considered if their working hours overlap significantly with Madrid time. Madrid-based candidates are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy agentic AI systems using leading model providers.
- Build workflows using structured outputs, tool calling, routing, budget controls and human approval where needed.
- Develop document-processing and knowledge-search solutions for PDFs, scans, spreadsheets and internal documentation.
- Integrate AI solutions with email, shared drives, CRM, ERP, databases and external APIs.
- Turn prototypes into reliable production services using Docker, CI/CD, logging and monitoring.
- Build evaluation frameworks, reference datasets and regression tests.
- Monitor AI usage, costs, quality and performance.
- Apply strong security, access control and data governance practices.
- Support compliance with GDPR and the EU AI Act.
- Work with business teams to identify and prioritise suitable automation opportunities.
- Create reusable templates, internal guidelines and training materials.
- Document technical decisions and maintain agreed architecture standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including production LLM systems.
- Strong Python skills, including typing, Pydantic and pytest.
- Direct experience with AI provider SDKs, structured outputs and tool calling.
- Strong understanding of AI evaluation, testing and quality measurement.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms, logging and monitoring.
- Good knowledge of SQL, APIs, data pipelines and schema management.
- Strong awareness of AI costs, security and access controls.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Professional English. Spanish is desirable.
Nice to Have
- Experience with GCP Vertex AI or Azure OpenAI.
- MCP, Claude Code or Claude Agent SDK.
- Production RAG systems, hybrid search and permission-aware retrieval.
- Temporal, Prefect, Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
- AI evaluation tools such as promptfoo or Inspect.
- Web search APIs, scraping and geospatial technologies.
