This client-facing role will support complex projects for data centers, power generation, manufacturing, industrial operations, and major infrastructure while helping grow APTIM’s Air Quality Services practice.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Lead major source, PSD/NSR, Title V, synthetic minor, and minor source permitting for new facilities, expansions, and modifications.
- Develop regulatory strategies, emissions calculations, potential-to-emit analyses, BACT evaluations, and air permit applications.
- Evaluate applicability of the Clean Air Act, NESHAP/MACT, NSPS, and state and local air regulations.
- Perform or oversee air dispersion modeling using AERMOD and related tools, including criteria pollutant and toxic/HAP impact assessments.
- Support compliance through audits, emissions inventories, monitoring, recordkeeping, reporting, and corrective actions.
- Lead air quality support for data centers and power infrastructure, including emergency, standby, and prime-power generation.
- Coordinate permitting with project design, construction schedules, commissioning, and operations.
- Serve as a primary client and regulatory agency contact; manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, teams, and technical quality.
- Build client relationships and identify opportunities to expand APTIM’s services.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, atmospheric science, or a related technical discipline.
- Must have 10+ years of relevant air quality consulting, permitting, modeling, or compliance experience.
- Demonstrated experience with major source permitting, regulatory strategy, dispersion modeling—preferably AERMOD—and federal, state, and local air regulations.
- Experience preparing and reviewing emissions calculations, potential-to-emit analyses, BACT evaluations, and permit applications.
- Strong technical writing, communication, client relationship, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE, CCM, or another relevant professional credential.
- Experience with PSD/NSR, Title V, NESHAP/MACT, and NSPS requirements.
- Experience permitting data centers, power generation, large combustion sources, industrial facilities, or utility infrastructure.
- Experience with complex multi-source modeling, emergency and non-emergency generators, and direct coordination with regulatory agencies.
