  • Help shape and deliver a risk-based compliance monitoring and assurance program across Deloitte's Conduct & Compliance portfolio, with deep exposure to AML/CTF controls, thematic reviews and firm-wide conduct risk.
  • Tackle big issues like cyber, trust, resilience and digital transformation
  • Mentoring, coaching and leadership programs to help you make an impact that matters

Are you an analytical and practical compliance or assurance professional who enjoys understanding how controls work in practice, following the evidence and turning findings into meaningful improvement? Deloitte is seeking a Senior Analyst to join our established Conduct & Compliance Function and help build and deliver a risk-based compliance monitoring and assurance program across the team’s portfolio.

The role will initially have a strong focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) / Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) compliance monitoring, including control testing, data-led exception analysis, thematic reviews, management action tracking and reporting. It will also support monitoring across the broader Conduct & Compliance portfolio, including Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) obligations, business relationships and anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions and export controls, modern slavery, complaints handling and other conduct risk areas.

Working with the Conduct & Compliance leadership team and subject-matter experts, you will help develop the annual compliance monitoring and assurance plan, execute reviews from scoping through reporting, and strengthen the team’s risk and control environment. This includes maintaining clear links between obligations, risks, controls, monitoring activities, findings and remediation actions.

What will your impact be?

As a member of our team, you will:

  • Work with the Director to develop and maintain a risk-based compliance monitoring and assurance plan across the Conduct & Compliance portfolio, informed by regulatory obligations, risk assessments, incidents, key risk indicators, prior findings and business change.
  • Plan and execute end-to-end monitoring reviews, from scope, test design, sampling and evidence evaluation through to documented conclusions
  • Use data analysis, professional scepticism and targeted thematic review to identify exceptions, trends, emerging risks and control gaps, and assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls.
  • Prepare clear, evidence-based findings that explain the observations, including cause, risk or impact, and practical remediation, with proportionate ratings and escalation where monitoring identifies possible non-compliance, control failure or heightened risk.
  • Partner constructively with control owners, subject-matter experts and stakeholders to agree actions, owners and target dates, monitor progress, validate completion and promote sustainable ownership of compliance controls.
  • Support and coach analysts or other team members, where required, and contribute to a collaborative and quality-focused team culture.

About the Conduct & Compliance Function

This is an exciting career opportunity to join our Quality & Risk – Conduct & Compliance function and immerse yourself in leading firm-wide compliance initiatives. The Conduct & Compliance team supports the firm to manage regulatory and conduct risk through fit-for-purpose frameworks, policies, processes, systems, training, advice, monitoring and continuous improvement. The function’s portfolio includes AML/CTF, anti-bribery and corruption, business relationships, AFSL obligations, client due diligence, sanctions and export controls, modern slavery, complaints handling and related conduct risk areas.

This role will work across the portfolio while developing strong depth in AML/CTF monitoring and compliance assurance. You will collaborate with subject-matter experts, risk and control owners, data and technology teams, and business stakeholders to understand processes, access evidence, test controls and translate results into practical action.

You will join an established team, work closely with colleagues across the business and have opportunities to build your technical capability through varied and complex matters.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

We are seeking a curious, structured and evidence-focused professional who can move comfortably between detailed testing and concise senior-level reporting. You will bring a practical and collaborative approach, using constructive challenge and clear insights to strengthen controls, support confident decision-making and help embed a strong risk and compliance culture across the firm. You are comfortable managing competing priorities, building trusted relationships and escalating issues when required.

You will have relevant professional experience appropriate to a Senior Analyst level, ideally in one or more of the following:

  • Relevant experience in compliance monitoring, assurance, internal audit, risk and controls, quality assurance, regulatory compliance or a related discipline.
  • Experience planning and executing reviews or control testing, including scoping, risk assessment, test design, sampling, evidence evaluation, workpaper documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to assess control design and operating effectiveness and distinguish isolated exceptions from systemic or recurring issues.
  • Identifying and documenting risks, controls, findings and remediation actions.

To be successful in this role, you will also demonstrate:

  • Sound judgement and the ability to identify relevant risks, controls, investigate issues and reach well-supported conclusions.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a disciplined approach to record keeping.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to respond to queries and explain technical requirements in practical terms.
  • A collaborative and service-oriented approach, with the ability to build effective relationships across the business.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, identify when escalation is required and deliver to agreed milestones.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to ask probing questions, challenge constructively, communicate clear conclusions and reach agreement on practical remediation.
  • Taking ownership of reviews, supporting quality outcomes and coaching less experienced colleagues will be highly regarded.
