Location: Los Angeles (preferred) or Los Gatos, CA. Hybrid schedule, 3x a week in-office (Tues-Thurs).
Department: Tax Operations

Reports To: Senior Manager, Tax Operations - US Indirect Tax

The Role

Netflix's US Indirect Tax ("ITX") team manages transaction taxes collected from customers and remitted to state and local governments — including sales, use, amusement, communication services, and admissions taxes — as well as property tax, business license tax, and certain gross receipts taxes.

We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented US Indirect Tax Senior Analyst to own compliance, audit, analytical, and research work across multiple tax types. The ideal candidate has extensive compliance and audit experience and is a self-starter with strong organizational, communication, and process improvement skills. This is a hands-on role for someone who can successfully execute multiple priorities in parallel, is highly detail-oriented in calculations and writing, and identifies and implements process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage sales and use tax audits from notice through resolution, including data gathering, workpaper preparation, exposure analysis, and correspondence with state and local auditors.
  • Prepare and review sales/use, gross receipts, business license, and other transaction taxes compliance filings across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform Month End accounting reviews, including preparing journal entries for tax reclassification and completing account reconciliations.
  • Gather and review information for Unclaimed Property Compliance, including coordinating data deliverables from AP, Payroll, and Production Finance.
  • Assist in personal and real property tax compliance, including valuation review and coordination with outside property tax consultants (e.g., appeal filings and support).
  • Support personal and real property tax audits, including responding to information requests and evaluating assessment notices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across audit and compliance workflows — including automation opportunities — to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  • Research and analyze technical indirect tax issues (e.g., nexus, taxability, sourcing) and summarize conclusions for the team and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and outside advisors on process improvement projects, audit strategy, business support, and compliance matters.
  • Maintain clear, audit-ready documentation and workpapers to support internal review, SOX testing, and external audit requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in state and local/indirect tax, including sales/use tax audit and compliance work.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with large transactional data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage competing audit and compliance deadlines and an array of competing priorities.
  • A track record of identifying and driving process improvement in indirect tax operations.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate and manage a variety of competing priorities.
