Senior/Lead Android Developer - Kotlin, AI/RAG/Agentic AI

Location: Stockholm, Sweden

Working Model: Hybrid, 2 days per week onsite

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Developer / Technical Lead to join a high-performing Agile development team in Stockholm.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Kotlin and Java, with a solid understanding of MVVM architecture, REST API integration, testing and CI/CD.

In addition to strong Android development skills, the ideal candidate will have experience or exposure to Generative AI, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and Agentic AI, particularly where these technologies are being integrated into digital products or mobile applications.

You will work closely with the Product Owner and wider delivery team to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions. You will also help guide developers working remotely/offshore and take ownership of technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Work within an MVVM architecture and established Android development practices.
• Collaborate directly with the Product Owner to understand, clarify and translate requirements into technical solutions, with support from the Product Owner where required.
• Contribute to requirement analysis, technical discussions, solution design and estimation.
• Develop integrations with REST APIs and work with JSON-based data.
• Integrate and consume backend services within Android applications.
• Implement robust, scalable and maintainable mobile solutions.
• Work with application logging, monitoring and analytics, including Crashlytics and Adobe Analytics.
• Write high-quality unit tests covering functionality, edge cases, usability and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, including Jenkins and automated build/deployment pipelines.
• Work within an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in ceremonies, refinement, planning and retrospectives.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to developers working remotely/offshore.
• Review code and promote development best practices, quality and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot application issues, crashes and production defects.
• Contribute to the adoption of Generative AI, RAG and Agentic AI capabilities within digital/mobile products where relevant.
• Work with product and technical stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI can improve user experience, automation and digital journeys.

AI / RAG / Agentic AI Experience

Experience with modern AI technologies is highly desirable. This could include:

• Generative AI / LLM-based applications.
• RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) solutions.
• AI-powered search, recommendations, assistants or conversational interfaces.
• Agentic AI and AI agents capable of executing tasks or workflows.
• Integration of AI/LLM services through APIs or SDKs.
• Understanding of embeddings, vector databases and semantic search.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into mobile or digital applications.
• Understanding of responsible and secure use of AI within enterprise applications.

The candidate does not necessarily need to be a specialist AI engineer, but should be comfortable working with AI-focused product and engineering teams and integrating AI capabilities into digital solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Strong knowledge of native Android development.
• Proven experience with MVVM architecture.
• Strong experience integrating REST APIs and consuming JSON.
• Experience with Android application logging, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with Firebase Crashlytics.
• Experience with Adobe Analytics or comparable mobile analytics platforms.
• Experience writing unit tests and building reliable, production-quality applications.
• Exposure to CI/CD, preferably Jenkins.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to understand and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of deliverables.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to remote/offshore developers.
