As a Senior IP core engineer you will be responsible for providing senior-level technical expertise and ownership within the IP network domain, ensuring stable, secure, resilient, and high-quality network services across the assigned scope. The role drives operational excellence, advanced technical problem resolution, continuous improvement, and alignment between daily operations, customer impact, service performance, and strategic business priorities
  • University degree in telecommunications, network engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience from an operational IP network position
  • Advanced knowledge of IP networking technologies and protocols, including routing, switching, MPLS, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, QoS,
  • Experience in incident resolution, technical escalation handling, planned maintenance, change execution, assessing customer and business impact, and drive corrective and preventive actions through to completion.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong analytical mindset with advanced problem-solving capability and the ability to make sound technical decisions under operational pressure.
  • Persistent, self-driven, and accountable, with the ability to take ownership of complex IP network incidents.
  • Knowledge of automation, scripting, APIs, monitoring tools, or software development is an advantage.
  • Serve as a senior technical specialist responsible for the performance and continuous improvement of Arelion’s global IP core network (AS1299), providing advanced operational support for complex network and customer-impacting issues.
  • Perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of complex IP incidents, including core-network faults and individual customer issues escalated by Tier 1 teams.
  • Develop and implement automation that improves operational efficiency, service quality, fault detection, and incident resolution.
  • Plan and participate in network maintenance, upgrades, and changes, including corrective actions that address incident root causes and reduce recurrence.
  • Collaborate with vendors to diagnose defects, coordinate technical escalations, validate solutions, and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Communicate clearly with customers during investigations and escalations, while coordinating effectively with internal teams
  • Assess the customer and business impact of operational activities, contribute to post-incident reviews, and recommend improvements that strengthen network reliability and service experience.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, providing senior technical support for critical IP network incidents; occasional shift work may also be required.
