As a Senior Application Security Engineer - AI Security (m/f/d), you will play a key role in advancing secure software development. As part of our global AppSec team, you will help shape the next generation of security capabilities by addressing emerging AI security challenges and strengthening security testing practices. This role offers the opportunity to shape security standards, introduce innovative approaches and technologies, and take ownership of initiatives that advance application security across our global engineering organization.
How you create impact
- Enable the secure adoption of AI-assisted development by extending existing Application Security capabilities, defining security guardrails, and helping engineering teams safely integrate AI-powered tools and workflows into their development practices.
- Advance security testing for AI-enabled applications by developing and improving assessment methodologies, automation, validation techniques, and testing approaches for applications that incorporate AI technologies.
- Evaluate emerging AI security threats and attack techniques, assess their relevance to Kuehne+Nagel, and translate findings into actionable security requirements, controls, testing methodologies, and practical guidance for engineering teams.
- Provide expert security guidance and hands-on support to developers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders, helping strengthen secure software development practices through knowledge sharing, training, and practical recommendations.
- Contribute to hands-on security assessments and penetration testing of Kuehne+Nagel applications, where applicable, while supporting the continuous improvement of security testing capabilities.
- Collaborate across the global AppSec team on a broad range of Application Security initiatives, taking ownership of projects and contributing your expertise in line with your strengths, experience, and business needs.
What we would like you to bring
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Application Security, including a strong understanding of application security principles, security testing, and secure software development practices.
- A strong interest in AI technologies and AI Security, with practical experience securing and testing LLM-powered applications, agentic AI systems, and AI-assisted development workflows. Familiarity with AI platforms, gateways, and related tooling such as LiteLLM, Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore, and AI security testing tools is a plus.
- The ability to analyze emerging attack techniques and security trends, including AI-specific threats such as direct and indirect prompt injection and tool abuse, and translate them into actionable security requirements, technical controls, testing approaches, and best practices.
- A strong software engineering background, ideally in enterprise environments, with solid Python programming skills and, preferably, experience with Java.
- A collaborative and proactive mindset, with the ability to work effectively across international, cross-functional teams, engage diverse stakeholders, and contribute to shared security objectives.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to explain complex security concepts clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
