The Opportunity

Design work that matters. Lead projects with purpose. Build your career across a diverse Federal portfolio.

RS&H is seeking a Senior Architect to join our Federal Market Buildings team. This hybrid opportunity is available from our offices in Jacksonville or Merritt Island, FL; San Antonio, TX; Norfolk, VA; or Colorado Springs, CO.

You’ll work on architecture projects supporting Federal, military, and government clients, with opportunities to contribute from early planning and conceptual design through construction. Our Federal portfolio includes projects supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NAVFAC, U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, and Department of Veterans Affairs.

This is not a role that takes an experienced architect away from architecture. You’ll remain actively involved in design and technical delivery while also leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring other professionals, and strengthening client relationships. That distinction is especially important based on the Federal Architecture intake discussion, where design leadership and genuine architectural experience were identified as priorities for these positions.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead architectural design and technical delivery for complex Federal projects
  • Develop architectural solutions from conceptual design through construction documents and project delivery
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
  • Serve as a technical leader and trusted resource for project teams and clients
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate project scope, deliverables, schedules, and quality
  • Perform technical and quality reviews, field reviews, inspections, and construction observations
  • Mentor junior architects and designers while providing technical guidance and oversight
  • Build strong client relationships and contribute to proposals and business development efforts

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of architectural experience, including responsibility for major or multiple moderate-scale projects
  • Active architectural license in good standing
  • Experience supporting Federal, military, or government clients
  • Demonstrated experience in architectural design, technical leadership, and construction document development
  • Experience mentoring junior professionals and reviewing work for technical accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, zoning requirements, fire regulations, and related ordinances
  • Proficiency with architectural production software
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and client relationship skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across architecture, engineering, construction, and project management disciplines
  • Due to Federal contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field
  • Experience with Federal or Department of Defense facilities
  • Project management experience
  • BIM experience
  • LEED accreditation

Build What’s Next

At RS&H, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a broad Federal portfolio while continuing to grow both technically and professionally. Whether your path leads deeper into architecture, project leadership, client management, or business development, this role offers room to expand your impact while staying connected to the work.

If this sounds like the role for you and you're ready to join an amazing team, please apply.

The salary range for this position in Colorado Springs is $110,000–$145,000 per year, representing the employer’s good‑faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on job‑related skills, experience, internal equity, and geographic location, where applicable.

This role may also be eligible for additional compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, an employee assistance program, retirement and financial protection programs (401(k), short‑ and long‑term disability), paid time off (including holidays and paid parental leave), and HSA funding up to $1,200 annually.
