At Big Spaceship, we’re explorers, not settlers. We partner with ambitious brands ready to venture into new territory, push creative boundaries, and lead rather than follow.
We’re a full-service creative shop built for brands that want to break new ground. Our team of entrepreneurial spirits, creative minds, and makers brings bold ideas to life for some of the world’s most innovative and culturally connected brands.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Art Director to join our team on a leading liquor and spirits client. This is a social-first account built around influencer partnerships and organic social, where culture moves fast and the best ideas are made in the moment. You’ll be both a conceptual lead and a hands-on maker: developing the big idea, then picking up your iPhone to shoot it yourself at events, tastings, and activations.
Responsibilities
- Develop original, culture-first concepts for organic social and influencer programs that reflect the brand’s voice and objectives.
- Shoot, edit, and publish iPhone-captured content on location at client events, activations, and partner moments, turning around social-ready assets quickly.
- Provide creative direction for influencer content, from briefing and concepting through review, so creator work feels native to each platform and true to the brand.
- Lead projects from initial concept through completion, keeping them on deadline and on budget, and manage multiple projects at once.
- Work as part of the IAT alongside copywriters, strategists, community managers, influencer leads, account leads, and project managers.
- Partner with the client’s in-house creative team to concept and execute social campaigns.
- Edit and optimize content for each platform and channel, using performance insights to refine what we make.
- Stay current on social trends, platform features, and creator culture, and bring new formats and techniques into your work.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and with responsible alcohol marketing standards, including age-gating and platform policies.
- Travel to and attend client events, including evenings and weekends when needed, to capture content.
- 5-7+ years of art direction experience with a focus on social media, content creation, or a related field. Beverage, alcohol, or lifestyle brand experience is a plus.
- A portfolio showing successful social campaigns, including organic and influencer-driven work, with examples of content you shot and produced yourself.
- Experience working as part of an inter agency team is strongly preferred.
- Proven skill shooting and editing high-quality, native-feeling content on an iPhone, including video, Reels/TikTok-style edits, and stills, in fast-moving live environments.
- Strong conceptual and storytelling abilities, with the range to move between big ideas and scrappy, in-the-moment execution.
- Experience working with influencers and creators, and a strong feel for what makes content perform natively on each platform.
- Excellent knowledge of social platforms and trends.
- Comfort interacting with clients, with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent design skills and mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, InDesign). Figma and mobile editing tools (CapCut, etc.) are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
- Must be 21+ and comfortable working on and around alcohol brands and events.
The salary band for this role is $100,000 - $130,000. Where a prospective new hire’s base salary will fall within this band depends on several factors including their qualifications and experience, the skill level required in the role, market rates, and the salaries of existing crew members at Big Spaceship within the same role to maintain equity.
