Role Description The Senior Associate is a full-time, hybrid role based in Lagos, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves managing complex commercial matters, drafting and reviewing transaction documents, and providing strategic legal advice on corporate, regulatory, and dispute-related issues. The Senior Associate will lead deal execution, coordinate with clients and counterparties, and supervise junior team members to ensure high-quality work product and timely delivery. Responsibilities also include legal research, risk assessment, participation in negotiations, and contributing to business development initiatives and knowledge-sharing within the firm.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in commercial law, corporate transactions, and regulatory compliance, with a track record of handling complex matters.
• Advanced skills in legal drafting, document review, and contract negotiation, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in legal research, analytical thinking, and problem-solving to address sophisticated client challenges.
• Extensively versed in court proceedings, dispute resolution, and managing complex litigation across trial and appellate courts.
• Proven ability to manage multiple files, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective client-facing skills, including clear written and oral communication, stakeholder management, and professional judgment.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior lawyers or interns, fostering collaboration and knowledge development.
• Admission to practice law in Nigeria, with about 8-10 of post-qualification experience in a reputable commercial firm or corporate legal department.
• Strong business awareness, commercial acumen, and comfort working on high-value, complex transactions.
• Proficiency in standard office and legal research tools; familiarity with technology-enabled workflows is an advantage.
