Senior Associate, Legal
- Exciting opportunity to join the Legal and Governance team within the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport
- This is a Clerk Grade 9/10 role with a salary range of $133,348 - $146,945 per annum plus superannuation
- Full-time temporary role (up to 30 June 2027) based in Sydney CBD, hybrid working arrangements may be available within business operational needs
About The Role
The key responsibilities of the role will be:
- Provide legal advice to clients from the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, Create NSW, Sound NSW and the Cultural Institutions to advance key policy priorities and projects.
- Advising on and drafting a range of commercial transactions, intellectual property matters, leasing and licensing property matters, and statutory interpretation matters.
- Working collaboratively with the Principal Legal Officer and key client stakeholders to progress legal matters.

About You
We are looking for someone with the following key knowledge and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Commercial law;
- Intellectual property law;
- Property law;
- Statutory interpretation; or
- Experience in the policy making and legislative process
- Demonstrated experience preparing complex legal advice, and drafting, executing and administering contracts, agreements and instruments.
- Demonstrated high level drafting skills, and the capacity to appropriately manage significant legal risk.
- Experience delivering expert legal analysis of policy, probity and operational issues to provide solutions and options and resolve complex and sensitive legal questions.
- Knowledge and experience implementing legal risk management across an organisation, including advising on the strategic, commercial and policy considerations of decisions.
