What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to join our Motor Vehicle Accident Compensation team in Werribee. This is a permanent, full-time role with flexible working arrangements available.

You will provide high-quality legal and administrative support across a varied caseload, while building trusted relationships with clients, lawyers, and external stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Support lawyers across statutory benefits, impairment benefit and common law matters.
  • Manage general file administration and assist with progressing matters.
  • Provide professional, empathetic, and responsive support to clients.
  • Communicate with clients, insurers, barristers’ clerks and medico-legal providers.
  • Coordinate client, medico-legal, settlement conference and mediation appointments.
  • Prepare legal correspondence and compile court documents for the County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria.
  • Prepare matters for settlement conferences and hearings, particularly Serious Injury Applications.
  • Manage lawyers’ diaries and competing deadlines.
  • Mentor and train legal support staff.
  • Contribute to the efficient and positive operation of the wider Victorian Work & Road team.

What will you bring?

  • Previous experience in legal support, preferably as a Legal Assistant or Senior Legal Assistant.
  • Strong written communication, drafting and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and time management.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A professional, empathetic and client-focused approach.
  • Confidence communicating with clients and a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team.
  • Initiative, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
  • A genuine commitment to helping injured people and supporting access to justice.

You must be available to work 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8.30 am and 5.00 pm. Flexible working arrangements are available.

Why consider this role?

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Work across a varied and meaningful motor vehicle accident compensation practice.
  • Make a direct difference to clients during a challenging period in their lives.
  • Support lawyers on complex matters, including Serious Injury Applications.
  • Mentor and develop legal support staff.
  • Work with flexibility while remaining connected to the Werribee team.
