Senior Associate or Counsel, Trust & Estate Litigation

About the Role

A growing legal practice group is seeking an experienced trust and estate litigator to take on a senior leadership role. You will lead complex matters, support client relationships, and help develop the team's practice and culture.

What You'll Do

• Lead complex trust, estate, probate, and fiduciary litigation matters from initial strategy through resolution.

• Represent trustees, executors, administrators, beneficiaries, seniors, and their families in disputes, including financial elder abuse matters.

• Build and maintain client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary contact on key matters.

• Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the litigation practice.

• Supervise, mentor, and guide associates through delegation, feedback, and hands-on training.

• Help shape the direction and culture of the practice group.

What We're Looking For

• At least 8 years of dedicated trust and estate litigation experience in California, with current hands-on litigation work.

• Experience leading case strategy on complex trust, probate, or fiduciary matters, including will and trust contests, fiduciary duty claims, accounting disputes, surcharge actions, or elder abuse litigation.

• Active membership in the State Bar of California in good standing and a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

• Experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys and readiness to help lead and grow a practice group.

• Strong client service skills and familiarity with the Bay Area trust and estate litigation community; an existing network is valued.

• Collaborative, collegial approach to working with clients and colleagues.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $225,000 to $275,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Hybrid work arrangement, with the primary location in San Mateo, California. Pleasanton and San Jose offices are also available.
