Senior Associate or Counsel, Trust & Estate Litigation

About the Role

A growing Bay Area law practice is seeking an experienced trust and estate litigator to take on a leadership role. You will guide complex matters, support clients through sensitive disputes, and help develop the practice group alongside its growing team.

What You'll Do

• Lead complex trust, probate, and fiduciary litigation matters from inception through resolution.

• Set case strategy for disputes including will and trust contests, fiduciary duty claims, accounting disputes, surcharge actions, and elder abuse matters.

• Represent trustees, executors, administrators, beneficiaries, seniors, and their families in litigation.

• Build client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact.

• Contribute to business development and the growth of the practice.

• Supervise, mentor, and develop associates through delegation, feedback, and guidance.

• Help shape the direction and culture of the Trust & Estate Litigation Group.

What We're Looking For

• At least 8 years of dedicated trust and estate litigation experience in California, with active litigation work in this area.

• Expertise in probate court matters, will and trust contests, fiduciary duty claims, accounting disputes, and surcharge actions.

• Active California State Bar membership in good standing and a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

• Experience leading case strategy on complex trust, probate, or fiduciary matters and mentoring or supervising junior attorneys.

• Leadership skills and interest in building a practice group, with established connections in the Bay Area trust and estate litigation community valued.

• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $225,000 to $275,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Hybrid work arrangement, with the primary location in San Mateo, California. Pleasanton and San Jose offices are also available.
