As a Senior Associate, Pension Solutions Underwriter on our Pension Risk Transfer team, you'll underwrite small to mid-sized single premium cases by analyzing bid specifications, preparing quotes, evaluating risks, and supporting proposal development. Partner with brokers, consultants, marketers, and internal team members to provide responsive service and accurate pricing solutions.
- Underwriting small to mid-sized single premium cases through evaluation of bid specifications, validating data, assessing contract risks, preparing quotes, and documenting assumptions. Review plan provisions, identify questions, and support timely and accurate quote delivery. Handle repricing requests and maintain underwriting documentation.
- Build and manage relationships by maintaining regular communication, timely follow-up, and adaptable customer service with agents, advisors, and marketers. Answer questions and provide information throughout the quote process.
- Maintain knowledge of market conditions, industry trends, and product features. Follow standard underwriting frameworks and pricing methodologies to support quote development, repricing activities, and customer solutions.
- Participate in team discussions, share ideas, contribute suggestions for process improvements, and support team goals.
- Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.

Who You Are
- 2+ years of experience in annuities underwriting, financial analysis, insurance, retirement services, or related financial services experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Working knowledge of annuity products, underwriting principles, and risk evaluation concepts.
- Experience with defined benefit plans and/or single premium contracts is preferred.
- Ability to analyze plan specifications, evaluate data, and support underwriting recommendations.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business applications.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external business partners.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to apply established underwriting guidelines, procedures, and pricing methodologies.
- Proven attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.Salary Range

- Charlotte, NC:
- Senior Associate, Pension Solutions Underwriter: $62,000 - $84,000 / year
- Pension Solutions Underwriter: $77,000 - $105,000 / year
- Chicago/Minneapolis:
- Senior Associate, Pension Solutions Underwriter: $68,200 - $92,400 / year
- Pension Solutions Underwriter: $84,700 - $115,500 / year
- Los Angeles/New York City:
- Senior Associate, Pension Solutions Underwriter: $74,400 - $100,800 / year
- Pension Solutions Underwriter: $92,400 - $126,000 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.Pension Eligible

Work Environments
This role offers an in-office hybrid work arrangement as well as fully remote, depending on the candidate. Hybrid will be a blending of at least three office days in a typical workweek and only if residing within 30 miles from Des Moines, IA or Charlotte, NC. You’ll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
Job Level
We’ll consider talent at the next level with the right experiences and skills. Next level would require4+ years of experience in annuities underwriting, financial risk evaluation, or related financial services roles.
