About the Role
Clyde & Co is a leading global law firm with a market-leading disputes, regulatory and investigations practice.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Brisbane office and work closely with our Managing Partner on complex, high-profile matters for corporations operating regionally and internationally.
The practice advises clients across the construction, infrastructure, finance, industrial, technology, transport, education, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Its work spans international litigation and arbitration, crisis management, internal and external investigations, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and asset recovery.
You will work on sophisticated cross-border matters, collaborating with colleagues and specialist advisers across our international network. The role offers exposure to sensitive investigations, contentious proceedings and strategic risk issues, together with direct client contact and opportunities to contribute to business development and the growth of the Brisbane practice.
The successful candidate will be involved in the following work:
- conducting and managing complex internal, regulatory and corporate investigations, including matters involving alleged fraud, corruption, bribery, sanctions, money laundering and breaches of internal policies;
- advising clients responding to criminal, quasi-criminal and regulatory investigations and prosecutions across multiple jurisdictions;
- managing cross-border litigation and arbitration matters, including coordinating evidence, experts, local counsel and strategic case planning;
- advising on crisis management, corporate governance, confidentiality, document retention, regulatory compliance and broader risk-management issues;
- assisting clients to assess and comply with anti-money laundering, anti-corruption and bribery legislation, including the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act 2010;
- conducting fraud and asset-recovery matters, including supporting international civil and criminal proceedings concerning misappropriated assets;
- developing regulatory compliance frameworks, policies and manuals, and delivering tailored training to boards, senior management and risk teams on compliance, ESG and risk-management strategies;
- working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, regulators, forensic specialists and other advisers across Australia and our international network;
- managing matters and client relationships, supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to business development and the continued growth of the Brisbane practice.
Key Skills & Experience
You will be a lawyer with a minimum of 4 years’ PQE and relevant experience in regulatory investigations, corporate investigations, commercial disputes, litigation, arbitration or contentious regulatory matters. You will have strong technical skills and an interest in complex, high-value corporate and regulatory work. Australian-qualified and dual Australian/overseas-qualified lawyers are encouraged to apply.
You will bring:
- Relevant experience in regulatory or corporate investigations, contentious regulatory matters, commercial disputes or related advisory work, gained in private practice, a regulatory body or an in-house environment;
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess complex evidence and provide practical, commercially focused advice;
- Excellent drafting and communication skills, with confidence engaging with clients, regulators, counsel and other specialist advisers;
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage sensitive matters, competing priorities and deadlines;
- A collaborative and proactive approach, together with the confidence to work autonomously and take ownership of matters;
- Commercial awareness, sound judgement and the ability to build trusted client relationships; and
- The ability to supervise and support junior lawyers and contribute positively to the broader team.
