About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Australian Tax Accountant to join our growing team and work closely with the Managing Partner on client matters, tax structuring, strategic planning and transactions.

This is not a traditional compliance-only position. While a solid foundation in Australian tax compliance is essential, the primary focus of the role is advisory, problem-solving, and helping clients make informed business decisions.

If you are currently in a compliance-heavy role and are looking to expand into advisory, client strategy, and complex tax matters, this is an excellent opportunity to accelerate your professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Advisory & Strategic Support

  • Work directly with the Managing Partner on tax structuring, business transactions, and client advisory matters
  • Provide practical advice relating to companies, trusts, business restructures, and asset protection strategies
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and planning considerations, translating technical matters into clear recommendations
  • Assist in researching and developing solutions for complex client issues

Execution & Implementation

  • Support the implementation of tax strategies, restructures, and transactions from conception to completion
  • Coordinate with lawyers, accountants, financial advisers, and other stakeholders to deliver client outcomes
  • Ensure structures, transactions, and recommendations are properly documented and executed
  • Track matters through to completion and maintain momentum across multiple engagements

Client Engagement

  • Participate in client meetings and strategic discussions
  • Explain tax implications and commercial outcomes in a clear and practical manner
  • Assist in preparing advice, reports, presentations, and materials for client meetings
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and contribute to ongoing advisory engagements

Compliance & Technical Review

  • Review and provide guidance on tax compliance work where required
  • Ensure advisory recommendations align with relevant legislation and reporting obligations
  • Maintain strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation developments and changes

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • 3–5+ years' experience in Australian taxation
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax principles, including companies, trusts, and SMEs
  • Experience preparing or reviewing Australian tax and compliance work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision

Highly Regarded

  • Exposure to tax advisory, restructures, business succession planning, or transactional work
  • Experience working with privately owned businesses, family groups, or high-net- worth clients
  • CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards completion)

Personal Attributes

  • Commercially minded and interested in solving business problems
  • Naturally curious and eager to learn
  • Takes ownership and follows matters through to completion
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Motivated by growth, responsibility, and client outcomes

Why Join Us?

  • Work directly with senior leadership and experienced advisors
  • Gain real exposure to tax advisory, business structuring, and transactions
  • Transition beyond traditional compliance into strategic, value-add consulting work
  • Accelerate your professional development through hands-on client exposure
  • Work with businesses and clients across Australia, the Pacific, and Asia
  • Be part of a collaborative and growing professional services firm

Who This Role Is Perfect For

  • You have a strong tax compliance foundation but want to move further into advisory work
  • You enjoy understanding how businesses operate and helping clients make better decisions
  • You want direct exposure to clients, leadership, and complex engagements
  • You are proactive, commercially minded, and enjoy taking ownership of outcomes

Who This Role May Not Suit

  • You prefer highly structured, repetitive compliance-only work
  • You require close supervision to manage day-to-day responsibilities
  • You are uncomfortable participating in client discussions or advisory engagements
  • You prefer a narrow technical role rather than a broader commercial advisory position

How to Apply

Please submit your CV along with a brief cover note outlining:

  • Your experience in Australian taxation
  • The types of clients you have worked with
  • Any exposure you have had to tax advisory, structuring, or business advisory work
  • Why this opportunity interests you

Salary Range: The salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and capabilities.
