Senior Azure Platform Delivery Lead / Technical Project Manager (m/f/d)

Duration: 6 months, with potential for extension

Workload: 100% for the first 3 months, potentially 60% thereafter

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days per week on-site in Zurich

Your Challenge

For our client, an internationally operating company undergoing a strategic cloud transformation, we are looking for an experienced Senior Azure Platform Delivery Lead / Technical Project Manager (m/f/d).

In this key role, you will drive the delivery of a secure, scalable and highly automated Microsoft Azure Foundation. Working closely with the Program Manager, Azure Solution Architect, internal Cloud and DevOps Engineers, and external implementation partners, you will ensure the successful execution of critical Azure platform initiatives.

This is not a traditional project management role. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical Azure expertise with proven project delivery and leadership capabilities.

Your Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the operational delivery of the Azure Foundation within a broader cloud transformation program.
• Translate existing technical requirements and architecture designs into structured work packages, project plans, milestones and deliverables.
• Lead and coordinate internal Azure and DevOps Engineers, Solution Architects and external implementation partners.
• Drive the standardisation and automation of Azure infrastructure and services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform.
• Coordinate the implementation of CI/CD pipelines to enable automated, repeatable and secure infrastructure deployments.
• Oversee the delivery of key Azure services, including Azure Storage, Azure Files, SFTP, Containers, Azure SQL, Application Gateway and Web Apps.
• Coordinate network architecture transformation, cloud connectivity and security implementation activities.
• Ensure alignment with Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), Azure architecture principles, governance and security best practices.
• Manage technical dependencies with related transformation initiatives, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and cloud migration projects.
• Monitor project progress, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure transparent reporting to the Program Manager.
• Support the transition towards a sustainable, secure and scalable Azure Cloud Operating Model.

Your Profile

• Several years of experience as an Azure Platform Delivery Lead, Technical Project Manager, Cloud Transformation Lead or in a comparable technical leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering Azure platform foundations, Landing Zones or enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical understanding of Microsoft Azure architecture, cloud infrastructure, networking, governance and security.
• Solid knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ideally Terraform, and CI/CD automation.
• Experience translating technical architecture and business requirements into actionable delivery plans and work packages.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple technical workstreams simultaneously.
• Experience leading Cloud Engineers, DevOps teams and external implementation partners.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Azure best practices.
• Ability to challenge technical solutions, manage complex dependencies and drive delivery in a dynamic transformation environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent English is mandatory; German is not required.

Nice to Have

• Microsoft Azure certifications, such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
• Project management certifications, such as PMP, PRINCE2 or IPMA.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), hybrid cloud environments or enterprise cloud migrations.
• Practical experience with DevOps, cloud automation and platform engineering.
