Senior Backend Engineer | TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Agentic AI | Remote Gaming Platform With Tens of Millions of Monthly Visits

• Rate: $25 to $45 USD per hour, depending on experience
• Location: fully remote, Ukraine or Europe
• Hours: full time plus some evening and weekend cover around game launches

I’m working with one of the biggest companion platforms for ARPG and MMO players, and they’re hiring a couple of Senior Backend Engineers who know TypeScript and PostgreSQL inside out. Millions of players open their guides, build planners and game databases whenever a new season drops, and you’ll own the backend that keeps that data fresh across APIs, databases, caching, analytics and background jobs. It’s fully remote for engineers in Ukraine or Europe, in a small team working at startup speed, with Claude Code or Cursor part of every day and occasional weekend cover around game launches.

What They're Looking For (Non-Negotiables)

• TypeScript on Node.js: 5+ years in backend roles
• Advanced types: generics, discriminated unions, narrowing, Zod or similar
• PostgreSQL and/or MySQL: schema design, indexing, query plans, locking
• ClickHouse or a similar analytical database at production volume
• Redis and caching design: invalidation, HTTP headers, CDN behaviour
• REST and GraphQL APIs, including auth and rate limiting
• Message queues and background jobs, including what happens when a job runs twice
• High-volume production apps, ideally one you took from inception to launch
• Agentic AI coding (Claude Code, Cursor): daily use, and you know when to check its output
• Startup experience: shifting priorities and quick releases
• Gaming: you play, and you understand why players min-max
