About the Role
A boutique venture capital law firm is seeking a senior attorney to lead and grow its bankruptcy and restructuring practice. The role combines an established portable practice with advising investment funds on distressed portfolio companies and supporting existing firm clients.
What You'll Do
Lead the bankruptcy and restructuring practice and develop its client base.
Advise investment funds on debt-side restructurings and workouts involving troubled portfolio companies.
Handle both in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court restructurings.
Manage approximately 300 to 400 hours annually of firm-generated bankruptcy work alongside your portable practice.
Mentor and direct a junior associate with bankruptcy experience.
Collaborate with attorneys across the firm in serving existing clients.
What We're Looking For
At least 15 years of bankruptcy, restructuring, and debtor-creditor experience.
A portable bankruptcy and restructuring practice generating approximately $1 million to $1.5 million in annual collections.
Substantial experience with in-court bankruptcy proceedings, out-of-court workouts, corporate restructurings, and debt-side advisory work.
A track record of originating and managing client relationships, with an interest in growing your practice.
Experience leading a practice or department and collaborating in a boutique law firm environment.
A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.
Big law experience is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $250,000 to $300,000 annually, with additional compensation upside associated with practice growth. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in New York, New York, with an expectation of working from the office approximately three days per week.
