At Specialty Dental Brands (SDB), we’re more than a dental support organization—we’re a community of people who genuinely care about helping our practices, providers, patients, and one another thrive. We partner with pediatric dentistry, orthodontic, and oral surgery practices across the country, giving their teams the resources and support they need to make a meaningful difference every day.
We’re looking for a Senior Benefits Manager who is passionate about benefits and understands just how personal and important they are to our team members and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to shape programs, improve the employee experience, and make sure our people feel informed, cared for, and well supported.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll lead the strategy and day-to-day management of our benefits and leave programs. You’ll be the trusted expert who helps us create competitive, compliant, and easy-to-understand programs that support our team members while meeting the needs of our growing organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Lead the strategy, design, and administration of our health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, wellness, and voluntary benefits programs.
-
Oversee medical, family, disability, statutory, and company-provided leave programs with care and consistency.
-
Make sure our benefits and leave programs remain compliant with federal, state, and local requirements, including FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and applicable state leave laws.
-
Lead annual benefits planning and open enrollment, from evaluating plans and coordinating systems to creating engaging employee communications.
-
Build strong relationships with our brokers, consultants, insurance carriers, leave administrators, and other external partners.
-
Review participation, utilization, costs, and employee feedback to identify ways we can make our programs even better.
-
Manage benefits budgets, forecasting, and thoughtful cost-control initiatives.
-
Oversee our 401(k) plan administration, reporting, audits, and compliance activities.
-
Ensure benefits and leave information is accurately maintained within our HRIS and benefits platforms.
-
Create helpful, easy-to-understand communications and educational materials for our team members.
-
Partner with HR leadership to connect our benefits and leave strategies with the overall employee experience.
-
Lead benefits and leave-related audits and support internal and external requests.
-
Explore and implement new benefits, wellness initiatives, voluntary offerings, and enhanced leave programs.
-
Support benefits and leave integration during mergers, acquisitions, and organizational changes.
-
Participate in HR technology implementations and process improvements.
-
Prepare meaningful reports and presentations for leadership about program performance, participation, and cost trends.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
-
Seven or more years of progressive experience in benefits administration, total rewards, or HR programs.
-
Experience managing complex employee benefits and leave programs.
-
Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and applicable state leave laws.
-
Experience partnering with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, consultants, and leave administrators.
-
Experience using HRIS and benefits administration platforms such as Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar systems.
-
Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn benefits data into practical recommendations.
-
Excellent project management, organization, communication, and presentation skills.
-
Experience supporting benefits integration during mergers, acquisitions, or organizational change is a plus.
-
CEBS, CBP, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or a related professional certification is preferred.
What Makes You Successful:
-
You genuinely care about helping team members feel informed, valued, and supported.
-
You enjoy benefits work and understand the difference a positive benefits experience can make.
-
You can think strategically while still being comfortable rolling up your sleeves and handling the details.
-
You make complex benefits and leave information feel clear, approachable, and easy to understand.
-
You enjoy building relationships and working closely with team members, leaders, vendors, and external partners.
-
You are organized, thoughtful, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities.
-
You use data and employee feedback to find practical ways to improve programs and processes.
-
You bring good judgment, kindness, and discretion to sensitive employee situations.
