Position Overview
The Senior Brand Designer is the visual steward of the HealthierHere brand. Reporting to the Marketing Operations and Communications Manager, this position leads design across the HealthierHere parent brand and its growing portfolio, including Connect2 Technology, the HealthierHere Community Hub, the Community Care Network, and new services. The role turns complex health and social care systems work into clear, accessible, visually compelling materials that reflect HealthierHere’s values and commitment to health equity.
During a critical growth period, the Senior Brand Designer will build the design systems, templates, and asset libraries that let a small team produce consistent, high-quality work quickly. The role balances hands-on design production with brand governance, and will art direct freelancers, creative vendors, and staff using design templates, so that every deliverable is on brand, accessible, and on schedule.
The ideal candidate is a versatile visual designer and systems thinker who is equally at home building a slide template, an annual report, a social campaign, motion graphic asset, website landing page, or a HubSpot email. They bring strong typographic and layout skills, a keen eye for data visualization, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Brand and Design Leadership
- Serve as the day-to-day steward of the HealthierHere 2022 Brand Guidelines, ensuring consistent use of logo, color, typography, photography, iconography, and graphic elements across all channels
- Develop and maintain a scalable design system with templates and reusable components for presentations, one-pagers, reports, toolkits, social graphics, email, landing pages, and event collateral
- Recommend and help implement brand architecture and guideline updates as HealthierHere’s programs and services evolve
- Review vendor and staff-produced design work for brand compliance and quality before publication
Design Production
- Design high-quality print, digital, and multimedia materials, including annual reports, toolkits, infographics, data visualizations, sales and partner enablement materials, event signage, and social media graphics
- Design and build email templates, landing pages, and page modules for HubSpot, and design assets in Figma for the website in partnership with web vendors and the Marketing Operations and Communications Manager
- Translate data and complex concepts into clear visuals that non-technical audiences can understand and act on
- Partner with the Multimedia Storyteller to pair design with video, photography, and motion graphics for campaigns and storytelling initiatives
Accessibility and Inclusive Design
- Design to accessibility best practices, including color contrast, readable type, alt text support, accessible PDFs, and plain-language layouts
- Select and direct imagery that reflects the gender, race, ability, and age diversity of the communities HealthierHere serves, in line with brand photography standards
- Support multilingual and translated layouts in coordination with translation vendors
Creative Workflow and Collaboration
- Work from creative briefs and participate in the standard creative production process, including review cycles per deliverable
- Partner with the Marketing Operations and Communications Manager on prioritization, workload estimates, and timelines through the team’s project tracking system (Asana)
- Organize and maintain the shared design asset library, source files, and version control
- Art direct freelance designers, illustrators, and print vendors, and provide clear creative direction and feedback
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years of progressive professional experience in graphic design, brand design, or marketing design
- A strong portfolio demonstrating brand system work, multi-channel campaign design, and print and digital layout
- Deep and demonstrated personal commitment to advancing equity and social justice, and strong alignment with HealthierHere’s organizational values; demonstrated ability to engage individuals respectfully and effectively from different cultures and backgrounds
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment
Technical Proficiency
- Expert proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
- Proficiency building branded templates in Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
- Experience designing for web and email, including working within content management or marketing automation platforms (e.g., Webflow, HubSpot)
- Working knowledge of accessible design standards (e.g., WCAG)
Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional typography, layout, color, and visual hierarchy skills
- Ability to design clear, compelling data visualizations and infographics
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills; able to give and receive constructive feedback
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance quality and speed
- Ability to self-learn and keep up with emerging design trends and tools, including responsible use of AI-assisted design tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a nonprofit, public health, social services, or health care setting
- Experience designing for B2B marketing, product marketing, or software and technology brands
- Experience with Figma or similar interface design tools
- Basic motion graphics skills (e.g., After Effects and other AI tools)
- Experience leading a brand refresh or building a design system from the ground up
- Fluency or professional proficiency in languages spoken by King County communities
