Ocean Getaways (OG) is a boutique private-yacht advisory company specializing in bespoke yacht charter experiences for ultra-high-net-worth leisure travelers, luxury travel advisors and corporate incentive groups. For more than four decades, we have combined deep industry knowledge, highly personalized service, exceptional yachts and destinations, and an extensive professional photography library to create extraordinary private-yachting experiences.
We are seeking a senior brand and digital designer with proven luxury-travel experience, sophisticated visual judgment and strong editorial instincts to help complete an in-progress brand refresh and build the reusable design system that will guide OG’s communications across newsletters, LinkedIn, social media and, subsequently, our website redesign.
THIS IS A HANDS-ON SENIOR DESIGN ROLE. Ocean Getaways is a small team. The successful candidate must personally execute the work — not simply develop concepts, direct junior designers or hand implementation to others.
IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT A GENERIC LINKEDIN APPLICATION.
To receive serious consideration, apply directly to Brad Lavigne at hiring@oceangetaways.com and follow the TO APPLY instructions below. Include the requested cover letter, CV/resume, portfolio/work samples, compensation expectations, location/time zone, and confirmation of Eastern Time working-hour overlap.
Applicants who submit only a LinkedIn profile or resume without the requested supporting information will not be advanced.
THE ROLE
The Design Lead will work closely with OG Management and our Content & Marketing Producer. The immediate priority is to finish and professionalize the existing brand refresh, then build a practical visual system that our Producer can use independently. Website visual redesign follows after the core brand and template system is established.
PHASE 1 — BRAND REFRESH COMPLETION & DESIGN SYSTEM
Our brand refresh is in its finishing stage, not a ground-up rebrand. Management has already established the direction; the Design Lead will refine, execute and carry it through to a polished, production-ready system.
• Finalize vector logo/lockup applications, master color palette, typography, spacing/layout rules and concise brand guidelines.
• Establish photography direction, image-selection standards and consistent Lightroom/Photoshop treatment for yacht, destination, lifestyle and experiential imagery.
• Create a Canva Pro brand kit and reusable templates for LinkedIn posts/carousels, Instagram/Facebook posts, carousels and Stories, testimonials, yacht/destination features and campaign assets.
• Design a refined, modular master newsletter template in Stripo or a comparable professional email platform, optimized for recurring use, mobile presentation and our different audience segments.
• Create application examples and handoff standards so the Content Producer can execute routine work independently without sacrificing brand quality.
PHASE 2 — WEBSITE VISUAL REDESIGN & UHNW PRESENTATION
Once the core design system is established, the Design Lead will help lead the visual redesign and user-interface design of oceangetaways.com in collaboration with OG Management, the Content Producer and our web-development partner.
• Develop responsive, component-based page layouts, navigation, reusable components, visual hierarchy, spacing, type scale, calls to action and key page designs in Figma.
• Apply the refreshed brand to a refined, image-led digital experience appropriate for UHNW clients and luxury travel advisors.
• Create a practical web design system and provide clean, organized handoff files and specifications for implementation by our development partner.
• Collaborate on website messaging and, where appropriate, write or refine key headlines, calls to action and supporting copy. Proven experience writing restrained copy for UHNW or comparable luxury audiences is a significant advantage.
OG's website runs on CakePHP 5 / PHP 8.5. Backend or PHP/CakePHP development is not required, but the Design Lead must design within real-world technical constraints and collaborate effectively with our external developer.
ONGOING FRACTIONAL DESIGN SUPPORT
Following the initial project phases, we anticipate ongoing part-time support for new templates, campaign visuals, image curation and periodic design review. Final structure will be agreed with the selected candidate.
THE VISUAL STANDARD
OG serves highly experienced travelers. Our visual language should feel refined, calm and quietly confident - luxurious without being ostentatious. We value exceptional photography, typography, whitespace, editorial sophistication, elegant composition and subtle emotional storytelling. We are not seeking generic luxury design, stock-image cliches or excessive decorative effects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Significant professional experience in senior brand, graphic or digital design, supported by a strong portfolio of finished work.
• Meaningful experience in yachting or a comparable luxury-travel sector such as luxury hospitality, bespoke travel, private aviation, safari or luxury resort/real-estate development. Direct yachting experience is highly desirable.
• Proven experience developing brand identity systems, vector logo families, brand guidelines and scalable visual standards.
• Advanced hands-on Canva Pro and Adobe design/image capability, with strong typography, composition and visual hierarchy.
• Strong photographic judgment: selecting, cropping, retouching and preparing premium imagery for digital use.
• Experience building template systems that non-designers can use independently.
• Demonstrated website/UI design experience in Figma, including responsive, component-based design for implementation by an external development team.
• Basic HTML/CSS literacy is strongly preferred so the Design Lead can design within real-world web constraints and communicate effectively with developers. Back-end and PHP/CakePHP programming are not required.
• Excellent written English and editorial judgment. Personal experience writing/refining copy for UHNW or sophisticated luxury audiences is strongly preferred.
• Experience collaborating directly with web developers and translating visual concepts into practical, production-ready specifications.
• Strong organization, deadline management, attention to detail and ability to implement Management feedback accurately.
• Ability to work independently and personally execute finished work in a remote, small-team environment.
Relevant tools include Canva Pro | Illustrator | InDesign | Photoshop | Lightroom | Figma | Stripo or comparable email platforms | Firefly | Runway | Higgsfield AI | ChatGPT | Claude / Claude Design.
Candidates do not need every platform listed. What matters most is design judgment, luxury sensibility, hands-on execution, image selection and scalable systems.
AI-ASSISTED CREATIVE WORK
OG supports thoughtful use of AI-assisted tools to accelerate production. AI should enhance - not replace - original design judgment, copy quality, factual accuracy or final quality control.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
This is not a creative-director-only role or daily social-media management. We need a senior designer who personally creates finished work, builds reusable systems and collaborates closely with our small team.
WORK ARRANGEMENT & COMPENSATION
• Part-time / fractional remote independent-contractor engagement.
• Initial work will be organized around defined project phases, followed by the possibility of an ongoing retainer relationship.
• Candidates may be located in any time zone, but regular schedule must provide meaningful overlap with OG Management’s Eastern Time business hours for collaboration and review.
• Competitive and commensurate with experience, demonstrated capabilities, portfolio quality, candidate location, proposed scope and overall fit. Compensation may be structured as a fixed project fee, hourly rate and/or monthly retainer, depending on the selected candidate and agreed scope. Initial compensation will reflect demonstrated fit, with the opportunity to review the ongoing engagement and compensation based on quality, productivity, independence, responsiveness and results.
