The Senior Business Analyst will play a key role on the Enterprise Solutions team, with a focus on data analytics, data governance, and new software implementations. This role is instrumental in strengthening the quality, consistency, and accessibility of the firm’s data to support investment operations and decision-making. Current priorities include a firm-wide data governance program, day-to-day analysis of firm data using SQL in Snowflake, ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the firm’s Salesforce platform, and the implementation of new software and system integrations as projects arise. The position involves close collaboration with business users, internal teams, and external vendors to ensure successful execution and adoption of these solutions. This role is best suited to a self-motivated professional who takes ownership of problems from first report through resolution, digs into the details others might overlook, and moves work forward without waiting to be asked. Success in this role also requires clear communication and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of new software platforms and integrations as projects arise, from requirements gathering through configuration review, testing, and user adoption.
- Translate and supplement user requirements for outside vendors and internal developers. This includes breaking down requests and providing supporting calculations and examples.
- Write and refine SQL queries in Snowflake daily to analyze, profile, and validate data across systems and ensure data integrity and reliable reporting.
- Build and maintain queries, reports, and dashboards in tools such as Hex to make data accessible to business users.
- Document implementation decisions, data flows, dependencies, and risks.
- Verify that requirements are met at every stage of a project through hands-on testing and coordination of User Acceptance Testing.
- Keep projects on schedule, communicate updates and blockers proactively, and manage scope expectations with internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Manage tasks across multiple workstreams with varying priorities and oversight levels.
- Support and enhance the firm’s Salesforce platform by working with business users to define requirements, performing light configuration (fields, reports, dashboards), and coordinating vendors who handle development and updates.
- Support legacy systems and internal tools, including user inquiries and troubleshooting.
- Support the design and rollout of a firm-wide data governance program, including data definitions, ownership, quality standards, and supporting documentation.
- Gathering requirements, understanding data warehouse, understanding security master,
- Other duties as assigned to support business initiatives.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Six or more years of experience as a business analyst, data analyst, investment analyst, engineer, or consultant working through all phases of project delivery.
- Strong SQL skills required, including writing and troubleshooting complex queries against relational databases; experience with Snowflake preferred.
- Demonstrated problem solver: takes an ambiguous issue, breaks it into parts, traces a data discrepancy to its root cause across systems, and proposes a practical fix rather than escalating at the first obstacle.
- Meticulous and detail-oriented: catches errors, inconsistencies, and edge cases in data, requirements, and testing before they reach users, and validates their own work.
- Self-motivated and accountable: proactively identifies gaps, asks questions early, follows open items through to closure, and delivers reliably with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with business users to elicit and define functional requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience in finance, investment management, or performance systems preferred.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts such as data quality, data lineage, master data management, and data cataloging is preferred.
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence and visualization tools preferred.
- Experience using Python for data analysis, automation, or scripting preferred.
- Familiarity with AI tooling in a data context (AI-assisted querying, analysis, or documentation) preferred.
- Exposure to Hex is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with Salesforce from a business analyst perspective (requirements, reports, dashboards, light configuration) is a plus; deep administration or development experience is not required.
- Experience using Jira and Confluence to track and document projects preferred.
