Shape the Future of Automotive Data Across Europe.

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Business Development Lead – Europe to play a key role in Cartell’s European growth journey.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of business development, strategic partnerships, automotive data, and technology. You're main focus will be to drive expansion into new European markets, building valuable data partnerships, and growing revenue through enterprise sales of innovative vehicle data and API solutions.

About Cartell: Founded in 2006, Cartell is Ireland’s first and most comprehensive automotive data supplier, part of the Motion group within Mediahuis Ireland. We provide vehicle registration (VRM) data solutions across Ireland, the UK, Spain, Portugal, and others, and our data solutions power vehicle identification inside partner platforms used across the aftermarket. Some of our customers include insurers, financiers, OEMs, trade network, and aftermarket businesses. This is a hands-on role with direct access to our data and development teams and to senior leadership, not a role managing a sales team.

The Opportunity

As Senior Business Development Lead, you will lead commercial initiatives across Europe, helping to expand Cartell’s data footprint and strengthen our position as a trusted provider of vehicle data solutions. You’ll work with customers, data providers, regulators, and internal product teams to identify opportunities, solve complex challenges, and deliver scalable growth.

What You’ll Be Doing

Commercial Growth & Market Expansion

  • Develop and execute market-entry strategies across European territories.
  • Qualify new markets before we commit, testing demand, data supply, rights and economics, and make a clear go or no-go recommendation.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Grow channel partnerships where our data is embedded in partner platforms, such as parts catalogues, garage and dealer software, and repair data providers.
  • Own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and solution design through to negotiation and contract execution.
  • Sell to insurers, financiers, marketplaces, trade, and aftermarket businesses.
  • Deliver multi-year commercial plans aligned to European growth objectives.
  • Structure usage-based commercial models
  • Manage pipeline activity, forecasting, and revenue performance.
  • Own account plans, with clear weekly reporting on pipeline, next steps and risks.

Data Partnerships & Ecosystem Development

  • Build strong relationships with data suppliers, registries, authorities, OEMs, insurers, and marketplaces.
  • Establish scalable data supply partnerships that support long-term growth.
  • Assess commercial, licensing, exclusivity, and compliance considerations across markets.

Technical & Product Expertise

  • Promote and commercialise vehicle data solutions.
  • Support customers through API integration, testing, validation, and onboarding.
  • Work alongside our data and development teams to scope integrations and agree what we can deliver.
  • Provide guidance on data structures, workflows, and technical implementation.
  • Partner with product teams to help shape future data offerings and roadmaps.

Market & Regulatory Insight

  • Monitor market, competitive, and regulatory developments across Europe.
  • Analyse data market dynamics, registration systems, data quality, and coverage opportunities.
  • Provide strategic recommendations that support commercial and product decisions.

What Success Looks Like In Year One

Your first year will be about turning opportunity into measurable progress. Success will mean:

  • Exploring and qualifying at least one new market, giving the business a clear view on where to invest next.
  • Building and growing channel partnerships that are delivering real business.
  • Developing a healthy enterprise pipeline across insurance, finance, OEM, trade and aftermarket.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–8+ years’ experience in automotive data, SaaS, API solutions, or a related technology sector.
  • Minimum 5 years of that experience in business development or enterprise sales at a company that sells automotive data, software or intelligence products, for example parts and repair data, vehicle identification, DMS or dealer software, or automotive market data.
  • Proven track record of selling complex data products, technical solutions, or APIs.
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships across multiple markets.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, negotiate, and close high-value opportunities.
  • Enterprise sales and negotiation.
  • Market analysis, segmentation, and go-to-market planning.
  • Data/API commercialisation and pricing strategy.
  • Understanding of vehicle data taxonomy, integrations, and API structures.
  • GDPR, data licensing, and regulatory compliance knowledge.
  • Strategic partnership development and stakeholder management.

Desirable

  • Network across European aftermarket, OEM, insurance or vehicle finance.
  • Knowledge of vehicle data standards.
  • GDPR and data licensing experience in more than one market.

Who You Are

You’re a relationship builder with strong commercial instincts and an eye for opportunity. You enjoy connecting the dots between customers, partners and the wider market, turning ideas into opportunities for growth.

You’re Someone Who

  • Builds trusted relationships and enjoys bringing people together.
  • Takes ownership and follows through on commitments.
  • Communicates openly and operates with integrity.
  • Is curious, adaptable and comfortable with change.
  • Shares knowledge and has a positive influence on the people around you.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of an ambitious business with exciting plans for growth across Europe.
  • Build relationships with leading automotive, technology and data partners.
  • Help shape where we go next, from new markets to product opportunities.
  • Work directly with senior leaders in a role where your ideas can make a difference.
  • Join a supportive, forward-thinking team with the backing of a leading European media and marketplace group.

Ready to make an impact across Europe? We’d love to hear from you. Apply today and help drive the next phase of Cartell’s growth journey.
