Job Summary

As a Senior BDM, you’ll drive sustainable sales growth and market share across a defined territory by building strong customer partnerships, delivering exceptional customer experiences, providing product and clinical expertise, and working collaboratively across functions to maximize customer success and business performance.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

Customer Focus

  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, building trusted relationships that drive long-term partnership growth, customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience through a blended engagement approach, collaborating with regional stakeholders, senior decision-makers, Eye Care Professionals (ECPs) and store teams.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the patient journey and improve retention, including contact lens awareness, fitting efficiency, post-fitting support and other practice growth initiatives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer objectives, business drivers and consumer behaviours, using insights and consultative expertise to support customer success and business growth.

Driving Sales

  • Deliver sustainable year-on-year sales growth across the defined territory through effective account management, commercial planning and execution.
  • Identify and maximise opportunities to deliver category growth and increase market share, product adoption and customer value across assigned accounts and stores.
  • Successfully launch new products and services, ensuring customers understand and realise their clinical, commercial and consumer benefits.
  • Develop and execute customer activity plans, training programmes, events and in-store initiatives that drive engagement, brand advocacy, visibility and sales performance.
  • Identify and target untapped opportunities across territory to drive new business growth.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain expert knowledge of company products, clinical evidence, partner reporting and commercial strategy to support customer and business objectives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all reporting, CRM updates, customer records and administrative requirements.
  • Effectively plan and manage territory activities, resources and priorities to maximise customer coverage, engagement and business outcomes.
  • Analyse customer performance, opportunities and challenges, providing informed insights and recommendations to support decision-making and execution.

Cross-Functional Working

  • Collaborate with Key Account Managers and internal colleagues to deliver integrated customer solutions and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Partner with the Professional Affairs team and the London Professional Affairs Consultant to develop and execute the annual clinical and commercial territory plan, delivering impactful clinical education programmes that enhance customer capability, strengthen relationships, build brand loyalty, and drive growth.
  • Build strong internal and external networks, working with support functions to maintain service excellence and resolve customer issues effectively.
  • Share customer insights, market intelligence and best practice across the business, contributing to wider initiatives that improve customer outcomes and commercial performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Experience:

  • Demonstratable experience in defining and achieving sales results through demonstration of acute business acumen
  • Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills, with the ability to understand customer businesses, identify needs, influence stakeholders and use insights to drive commercial outcomes.
  • Proven commercial and sales experience with a successful track record of delivering sales targets, achieving results and managing customer growth opportunities.
  • Highly motivated, dynamic, resilient and results-oriented, with the agility, creativity and tenacity to identify solutions and adapt to changing customer and business needs.
  • Excellent business acumen and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively, manage a large geographical territory and perform well under pressure.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, capable of building credibility and influencing stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team environment.
  • A desire to continuously learn and develop expertise.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
