About Feanix Bio

Feanix is rebuilding animal breeding from the genome up.

We’re a YC-backed startup using whole-genome sequencing and custom ML models to help dairy farmers make better breeding and herd management decisions. Our technology is genuinely novel: we can sequence a full genome from a single hair at a fraction of traditional industry costs, our models achieve ~90% prediction accuracy on traits where existing approaches sit closer to ~30%, and we’re pioneering farm-specific genomic predictions that turn genetics into practical, actionable decisions.

That technology is translating into real adoption. In a short time, we’ve grown to serve roughly 1% of the U.S. dairy industry, with many customers in the pipeline. We started with dairy because our founders grew up on dairy farms and understand firsthand the problems we’re solving. But genetics is foundational to every agricultural industry, and dairy is only the beginning.

We’re building Feanix with a small, high-caliber team where people have meaningful ownership and work end to end. There are no unnecessary layers and very little room for busywork — just difficult problems at the intersection of biology, data, and software that haven’t been solved before.

If you’re exceptional at what you do and want your work to have a measurable impact on an entire industry, we’d love to build it with you.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Business Operations Manager to build and run the internal operational backbone of Feanix as we scale.

This is a broad, high-ownership role that blends People Operations & Talent Acquisition with traditional Business Operations. One week you might be running open enrollment, screening candidates for a new role, and tightening up onboarding; the next you might be managing contractors on a laboratory build-out, negotiating benefits or planning the next office.

We aren't looking for someone who keeps the lights on by following a checklist. We need someone who can take a messy, cross-functional problem — scope it, build the plan, rally the right people and land it.

You'll work directly with founders and functional leaders across the organization and have real ownership over how Feanix operates day to day.

What You'll Do

Business Operations & Project Management

  • Own end-to-end project management of major operational initiatives
  • Manage general contractors, movers, and other vendors; track timelines, change orders, and budgets, and keep projects on schedule
  • Own facilities and workplace operations across office and lab sites: leases, landlord relationships, maintenance, security and access, and workplace services
  • Own vendor management and procurement: source and negotiate contracts, manage renewals, and build a purchasing process that is fast without being uncontrolled
  • Partner with Finance on operating budgets, spend tracking and vendor payments
  • Manage business insurance, entity and regulatory compliance filings, and the company's compliance calendar
  • Support company planning cadences — goal setting, operating reviews, and cross-functional initiatives — and help leadership track progress against priorities
  • Assist in planing company offsites, team gatherings, and in-person collaboration for a distributed team

People Operations

  • Assist in owning the employee lifecycle operations: offer paperwork, onboarding, IT/equipment provisioning, role changes, and offboarding
  • Administer benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)), run open enrollment, and serve as the main point of contact for employee benefits questions and broker/PEO relationships
  • HR compliance, including I-9s, required postings, state and federal filings, leave administration, and employment policy updates
  • Maintain and evolve the employee handbook and core people policies as we grow
  • Own HRIS and people systems, keeping employee data accurate and the employee experience simple
  • Support performance review cycles, compensation reviews, and leveling frameworks in partnership with leadership
  • Serve as a trusted, discreet resource for employee relations questions and escalate appropriately

Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with the Head of Talent on full-cycle hiring across engineering, lab/scientific, revenue, and operations roles
  • Assist in source candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, referrals, university programs, and agriculture and biotech networks
  • Screen inbound applicants and conduct initial phone screens to assess experience, fit, and interest
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews, onsite visits, and candidate travel, and keep candidates informed at every stage
  • Prepare offer letters and own the handoff from accepted offer to a smooth, well-organized first day

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in business operations, people operations, or a closely related role
  • Experience in an early- or growth-stage startup
  • A track record of owning complex, multi-stakeholder projects end to end
  • Hands-on experience managing contractors, vendors, and landlords, including negotiating contracts and managing change orders
  • Working knowledge of US HR compliance, benefits administration, payroll, and multi-state employment
  • Experience supporting recruiting — sourcing, screening, interview coordination, or onboarding — ideally in a high-growth environment
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through across many parallel workstreams
  • Sound judgment and discretion with sensitive employee and company information
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves — no task too small, no project too ambiguous
