The Senior Business Process Automation Engineer designs, develops, and supports enterprise automation solutions incorporating RPA, API-based integration, AI-assisted workflows, and emerging automation technologies. This role applies advanced technical expertise to deliver scalable and maintainable automation solutions, supports automation standards and reusable components, and collaborates with business and technology partners to translate process improvement opportunities into reliable solutions. This position mentors junior engineers and contributes to automation governance, platform improvement, and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions to integrate applications, APIs, databases, and AI services while meeting scalability, reliability, and maintainability requirements.
- Develop browser-based and application-based automations using appropriate frameworks such as UiPath, Playwright, Selenium, and related tools.
- Evaluate technical trade-offs between API-first integration, UI-based automation, and workflow orchestration approaches for assigned solutions.
- Apply OCR, document intelligence, and AI/ML services to business process automation use cases where appropriate.
- Contribute to automation architecture, standards, and best practices for RPA, API integration, and AI-assisted workflows, ensuring solutions align with established standards.
- Support Center of Excellence practices by developing reusable components, documentation, templates, and patterns to improve delivery consistency across automation projects.
- Assist with automation opportunity assessment, solution estimation, and benefit analysis for moderately complex initiatives.
- Support modernization initiatives involving cloud-native orchestration, integration services, and automation platform enhancements.
- Support UiPath Orchestrator and related automation infrastructure, including monitoring, incident troubleshooting, job scheduling, package promotion, and environment health checks.
- Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve automation stability and performance.
- Monitor bot performance metrics, error rates, and operational trends, recommending improvements to reduce failures and improve throughput.
- Support deployment, release management, and operational readiness activities for automation solutions.
- Work with business stakeholders to understand process requirements, document current and future-state workflows, and translate requirements into automation designs.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing, technical documentation, and training materials for automation tools, frameworks, and support processes.
- Mentor junior automation engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and sharing of best practices.
- Promote adherence to development standards, testing practices, and operational support procedures.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, compliance, and application teams to ensure automation solutions meet operational, data governance, and security expectations.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and production support updates to business and technology stakeholders.
- Participate in vendor evaluations, proof-of-concept efforts, and technology assessments as needed.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant work experience required, including the following:
- Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience with enterprise RPA platforms (UiPath Orchestrator, Studio, Unattended/Attended Robots) with demonstrated experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting production automation solutions.
- Minimum of two (2) years of software design, programming, and testing experience with .NET, C#, JSON, XML, SQL (PostgreSQL, MSSQL), or comparable technologies used in automation delivery.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, supporting code reviews, sharing automation best practices, and contributing to technical documentation and training materials.
- Experience designing and implementing REST API integrations and evaluating API-first versus UI-based automation approaches.
- Demonstrated experience building browser-based automations using Playwright, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including orchestration or integration services such as Lambda, Step Functions, Logic Apps, or comparable services.
- Hands-on experience or working knowledge of AI/ML integration in automation workflows, including OCR, document intelligence, and LLM-based intelligent automation.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, SDLC methodologies, Agile delivery, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation testing frameworks.
- Experience supporting enterprise automation platforms and production environments.
CERTIFICATIONS
UiPath Certified Professional (UCP) or equivalent RPA certification and/or AWS Solutions Architect Associate or similar cloud certification preferred.
