Job Description
Our
client in the Financial Services space who’s Systems Support division is requires
a senior who can take a live, integrated product apart and put it back
stronger. This is permanent, hybrid work in Cape Town or Woodmead, at a
market-related salary, for someone who already leads from the code: reusable
components, resilient integrations, and a team that ships clean work. You will
own the hard problems, steady the platform, and set the standard for the
developers around you. Applications close 16 October 2026. Open to people with
disabilities.
Responsibilities
· Build
code that travels. Write components that can be reused across platforms, not
thrown away after one release.
· Break
complex problems into work the team can actually finish.
· Support
what is live and build what is next, without letting either slip.
· Learn
the product and the domain, then sit with business analysts and turn rough
requirements into working software.
· Refactor
with intent. Keep the codebase maintainable, adaptable, and ready for the next
change.
· Hold
the line on standards. Work inside the team’s processes, and improve them where
they are weak.
· Push
performance and high availability until the system stays up under real load.
· Prove
it works. Write unit and integrated tests that show the feature does what it
claims.
· Leave
a trail. Document how the components fit, and how someone else uses them.
· Review
code and protect quality before it reaches a client.
· Build
trust with clients. Be the person they can rely on when the system is under
pressure.
· Hunt
the real cause. Do root cause analysis on defects in an integrated system, then
fix the source, not the symptom.
· Build
and deploy onto the application server, and own the result.
· Run
your own functional test scenarios before anyone else has to.
· Take
in other developers’ changes and make the system work again: debug their code,
fix test data, close the gaps.
· Guide
junior and intermediate developers so quality work lands on time.
· Give
technical leadership to this team and to the teams around it.
Requirements
Requirements
· A
relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or
Computer/Engineering Sciences, and/or matric with at least 10 years of relevant
experience, including 5 years as a senior developer in a team.
· Strong
Microsoft web development toolsets, and a real grip on the .NET Framework and
C#.
· In-depth
ASP.NET, C#.NET and XML, on .NET 4.7.2 and above.
