Senior C++ Engineer (Civil Design Applications)

Location: Iasi (Hybrid)

Position Summary:

By joining our Iași-based Engineering Applications team, you won’t just be writing code—you will be a core architecture owner of world-renowned products like OpenBridge Designer, OpenRail Designer, and OpenRoads Designer. We combine the stability and global impact of an enterprise company with the agile, collaborative, and friendly feel of a local engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Drive Technical Excellence: Work both independently and with a brilliant, global project team to design, develop, and modernize Bentley’s premier line of civil engineering applications.
• Architecture Ownership: Take true end-to-end ownership of the features you write and the system designs you implement.
• Modern Engineering Practices: Champion high-quality code assets through robust unit testing, continuous integration, and clean code principles.
• Innovate & Explore: Research, evaluate, and prototype new technologies to keep our software on the cutting edge of engineering technology.
• Mentor & Collaborate: Share your knowledge with peers, collaborate across international borders, and continuously elevate our engineering standards.
• Core Tech Stack: Live and breathe high-performance desktop development, working primarily with modern C++ and integrating with C# / .NET environments.

• Education: BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Experience: Minimum 4–5 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• C++ Mastery: Highly proficient in C++ (deep understanding of memory management, OOP, and modern C++ paradigms is essential).
• System Design: Thorough knowledge of object-oriented programming, clean code, and the proper application of design patterns.
• Mindset: A proactive, results-oriented problem solver who thrives in a collaborative, international environment.
• Communication: Good written and verbal English skills (as you'll sync regularly with global teams).

It would be awesome if you have:

• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and the .NET / C# ecosystem.
• Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies.
• Experience working with UI frameworks (such as .NET WinForms or WPF).
• Experience designing and maintaining public APIs for product extensions.
• Basic knowledge of SQL, XML, and XSLT.
• Interest or background in computer graphics, CAD systems, or computational geometry is a massive plus!
