Role Description The Senior Carer role is a full-time hybrid position based in Newport, with some flexibility to work from home for administrative and care-planning tasks. The role includes monitoring service users’ well-being, documenting observations, updating care records, and promptly reporting any concerns to management or clinical leads. The Senior Carer will also communicate regularly with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care and promote safety, dignity, and independence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a senior care, domiciliary care, or community support role, ideally within home care services.
  • Relevant care-related training or qualifications (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent) or willingness to work toward these.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact sensitively with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to lead by example, supervise and support junior care staff, and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Good organizational skills, including accurate record-keeping, time management, and attention to detail in following care plans and procedures.
  • Basic IT skills to manage electronic records, online training, and remote communication when working from home.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, infection control, and health and safety principles in a care setting.
  • Commitment to equal opportunity, non-discriminatory practice, and respecting diversity in all interactions.
  • Reliable, compassionate, and patient, with a genuine motivation to support people to live as independently and safely as possible.
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, in line with service needs.
