Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor claims team members on cargo claims processes, best practices, and industry standards
  • Manage a portfolio of 90+ active claims simultaneously, maintaining organizational efficiency and accuracy across all cases
  • Manage complex and high-value cargo claims related to damaged and rejected shipments (TL and LTL)
  • Serve as subject matter expert for intricate claim negotiations with customers, consignees, shippers, and carriers
  • Organize and coordinate documentation requests for cargo claims from agents, customers, and carriers while ensuring compliance with all regulations
  • Negotiate salvage and recovery options following rejected loads and determine optimal courses of action
  • Manage insurance coverage for all-risk loads and create insurance certificates with accuracy and attention to detail
  • File reports with Carrier 411, Truckstop, and Cargonet, maintaining comprehensive documentation
  • Identify and resolve case-relevant information with thorough analysis and investigation
  • Monitor critical deadlines and manage competing priorities across multiple claims
  • Provide relevant insurance documentation and guidance to customers and carriers
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned by the Claims and Legal Department

Requirements:

  • Certified Claims Professional (CCP) certification required (CCPAC—Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Counsel)
  • 7+ years of proven experience in cargo claims adjustment or related claims management roles
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage high-volume caseloads (90+ claims simultaneously)
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment; able to absorb and manage multiple processes.
  • Ideal candidate takes initiative, anticipates business needs, and manages workload independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Advanced customer service orientation and strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional degree of accuracy and attention to detail with ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and oral—with ability to interface at all organizational levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently on complex claims
  • Ability to work in a hybrid or on-site capacity

Knowledge of insurance principles, freight industry regulations, and claims settlement practices preferred
