The Opportunity: The purpose of this role is to provide strategic catastrophe risk, portfolio analytics, business planning, and reinsurance expertise that supports portfolio optimization, forecasting, capital management, and enterprise decision making. The role delivers risk-based insights, analytical solutions, and strategic recommendations that enable sustainable growth, profitability, resilience, and alignment with QBE's strategic priorities.

  • Location: New York City, New York
  • Work Arrangement: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week.
  • The salary range for this role is: $90,000 - $135,000

Your New Role

Strategic Portfolio Optimization & Risk Analytics

  • Support enterprise and divisional portfolio optimization initiatives through catastrophe modelling, exposure analytics, and performance monitoring.
  • Deliver quantitative insights to support growth, profitability, volatility management, and resilience objectives.
  • Develop and enhance analytical frameworks, risk metrics, and reporting that improve portfolio management and decision making.
  • Provide review, challenge, and governance of catastrophe risk analyses used in strategic planning and executive decision making.
  • Partner with underwriting, risk, actuarial, and finance teams to identify emerging risks, assess opportunities, and support enterprise objectives.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools, data solutions, and automation capabilities that improve efficiency, consistency, and insight generation.

Business Planning & Forecasting

  • Partner with business planning, underwriting, finance, and actuarial teams to support annual and multi-year planning processes.
  • Provide catastrophe risk expertise and analytical support for forecasting, planning, and performance management activities.
  • Develop, enhance, and govern forecasting methodologies, validation frameworks, and portfolio performance measures.
  • Deliver clear and actionable insights to senior stakeholders, supporting business decisions and strategic prioritization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance data quality, transparency, process efficiency, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Support capability development across teams through knowledge sharing, training, and best practice adoption.

Reinsurance Strategy & Capital Optimization

  • Support reinsurance purchasing, structuring, and optimization activities through catastrophe modelling and portfolio analytics.
  • Evaluate reinsurance structures, capital efficiency opportunities, and alternative risk transfer solutions.
  • Assess risk-return trade-offs to support underwriting, portfolio management, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Provide analytical support for accumulation management, capital management, and enterprise risk management activities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver strategic insights and recommendations that improve portfolio performance and resilience.
  • Support strategic initiatives that strengthen QBE's risk management framework, operational effectiveness, and long-term growth objectives.


Required Qualifications

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
