Wendel is seeking a Senior Civil / Site Engineer to join our growing Site Development Services Group in our Williamsville, Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, or Albany, NY offices. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on projects from concept through construction while collaborating directly with owners, municipalities, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Successful candidates will have opportunities to lead multidisciplinary teams, develop client relationships, mentor engineering staff, and contribute to the continued growth of the firm's infrastructure and site development practice. Projects include commercial, industrial, municipal, higher-education, energy, and public-infrastructure developments throughout New York State.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of civil/site engineering projects from concept through construction.
  • Prepare and oversee site plans, grading plans, utility infrastructure design, drainage studies, stormwater management reports, and contract documents.
  • Serve as Project Manager for multiple concurrent civil/site development projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality, and client expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Review engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and design documents for quality and accuracy.
  • Represent Wendel at client meetings, public presentations, planning board meetings, and agency reviews.
  • Lead QA/QC reviews and provide technical oversight for project deliverables prepared by engineering staff.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, participate in proposal development and interviews, and support strategic business development initiatives throughout New York State.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including DEC stormwater requirements and SEQR processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in New York State or ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • 10+ years of civil/site engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Site plan design
    • Utility design
    • Grading and drainage design
    • Stormwater management
    • Hydraulic and hydrologic calculations
    • Land development permitting and entitlements
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D & HydroCAD.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DEC permitting and MS4 requirements.
  • Familiarity with SEQR and municipal approval processes.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Existing relationships with municipalities, developers, architects, higher education institutions, or public-sector clients throughout the State.

Salary range: $96,000 - $148,000.

Wendel is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary offered will also take into consideration regional adjustment factors.
