Role Overview & Core Mission We are seeking an execution-focused Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to build and maintain the cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and backend API integration layers supporting 6,000+ real estate agents and enterprise operations nationwide. You will be the primary hands-on builder turning enterprise blueprints into hardened, production-ready code. You will write infrastructure as code (Terraform), engineer resilient API bridges between enterprise systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP, CRM and transaction systems, payment gateways), deploy serverless microservices on Google Cloud Run, and establish modern GitOps practices. You will work closely with the Principal Engineer, corporate IT/security teams, and strategic partners to ensure rapid deployment, zero operational downtime, and strict data governance. 2. Key Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure as Code & DevOps (Platform Engineering) Serverless Cloud Infrastructure: Architect, provision, and maintain production-grade GCP infrastructure using Terraform (Cloud Run, Cloud CDN, Cloud Storage, Firestore, Cloud SQL, Secret Manager, Cloud Armor). Automated CI/CD Pipelines: Build and standardize build/test/deploy pipelines using GitHub Actions / Cloud Build, enabling safe zero-downtime canary and blue-green deployments. Observability & Reliability: Implement centralized logging, tracing, and metric alerts via Google Cloud Operations Suite to support 99.9% platform uptime and sub-second API latencies. Security & FinOps Compliance: Enforce least-privilege IAM, manage KMS keys and secrets, implement Cloud Armor DDoS/WAF policies, and continuously monitor cloud resource utilization. Backend Engineering & Enterprise API Integrations System Integration Engine: Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, fault-tolerant REST and webhook-driven microservices connecting legacy and modern enterprise platforms. Core Business Connections: Build bi-directional API synchronizations across: Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365): Ingest and synchronize commission split calculations, accounting ledgers, and accounts receivable data. CRM & Transaction Systems: Deep integration with core brokerage CRM and transaction management systems. Enterprise Identity: Integrate with Google Workspace and Microsoft Entra ID (SSO / OAuth2 / SAML) for authentication across 7,000+ users. Data Flow & Caching: Architect caching and event streaming patterns using Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, and Memorystore (Redis) to decouple background jobs from agent-facing web interactions. Co-Engineering & Modernization Delivery Partner Collaboration: Work alongside partner engineering squads, reviewing partner PRs, aligning on shared codebases, and absorbing operational handoffs. Legacy Platform Decommissioning: Extract logic, schemas, and data structures from legacy applications (Apptrium, RavenDB/SQL instances) and migrate workflows into our native GCP serverless environment. Multi-Project Scalability: Build reusable microservice components, data connectors, and SDKs for upcoming initiatives, including the AMP (Agent Marketing Platform) replacement and the elliman.com web platform modernization. Shared Platform Core & Cross-Coverage Shared platform core: GCP, Terraform, CI/CD, IAM, Cloud Run, and observability are shared responsibilities between this role and the Principal Engineer. Primary backup to the Principal Engineer for GCP infrastructure, CI/CD, and partner code review. Shared runbooks: Maintain runbooks and documentation so either role can operate, deploy, and respond to incidents on any production system. Shared on-call rotation with the Principal Engineer. 3. Required Qualifications & Experience 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in cloud infrastructure, backend API development, and distributed systems. Proven track record building and running production workloads on Google Cloud Platform. Production backend services in Node.js/TypeScript or Python. Modular Terraform for multi-environment enterprise cloud estates, plus automated testing, Docker, and GitOps workflows in modern CI/CD tools. Experience building integrations with enterprise systems (ERPs such as Dynamics 365 or NetSuite, enterprise CRMs, transaction and document workflow systems, payment gateways). Working knowledge of API authentication and identity standards (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT). Soft Skills & Mindset High ownership and pragmatism: Comfortable moving fast while keeping architectural discipline. Collaborative partner: Works transparently with internal stakeholders (CISO, compliance, product) and external technical consultants. Clear documentation: Maintains architectural documentation, API contracts (OpenAPI/Swagger), and deployment runbooks. 4. Preferred Qualifications Go as a production backend language. Relational and NoSQL databases (Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL/MySQL, Firestore/MongoDB, Redis). Entra ID / Google Workspace federation at enterprise scale. Experience in real estate tech, proptech, fintech, or commission-based transaction platforms. Experience migrating workloads from Microsoft Azure (or AWS) to GCP. Exposure to headless CMS and composable web architectures (e.g., Sanity, Next.js). Familiarity with AI/LLM tool-calling APIs or vector databases (Vertex AI, Cloud Vector Search). Familiarity with event streaming into cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).
