📍 Bucharest | Hybrid / Remote flexibility

📄 B2B or Employment Contract | Full-time | Long-term

📅 Start: December 1, 2026 or January 1, 2027

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join an international product engineering environment, working closely with platform teams and engineers based primarily in Germany.

This opportunity is focused on building, evolving and owning cloud infrastructure, rather than traditional cloud support or ticket-driven operations.

You will work on a large-scale, GCP-first enterprise platform, contribute to reusable infrastructure components and help establish reliable, secure and scalable cloud solutions.

What you'll be working on

  • Google Cloud Infrastructure: Design, build and maintain cloud environments using GKE, Cloud Run, IAM, VPC, DNS, Load Balancing and Secret Manager.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Develop and manage Terraform configurations across multiple environments, leveraging and improving shared modules.
  • CI/CD Engineering: Implement and maintain GitLab pipelines, reusable CI/CD components and runner configurations.
  • Kubernetes & GitOps: Manage production Kubernetes environments, Helm deployments, RBAC, networking and policies, using Flux and Flagger.
  • Cloud Security: Apply security best practices across identity, secrets, network configurations, TLS and infrastructure policies.
  • Observability & Reliability: Support monitoring, alerting, incident response, infrastructure maintenance and performance analysis.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Work alongside product and platform teams, contribute to shared technical standards and participate in architecture and design reviews.

What we're looking for

We're interested in engineers with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud or Platform Engineering, including direct responsibility for production infrastructure.

Essential technical experience:

  • GCP / AWS: Practical experience designing, extending or improving cloud landing zones and networking environments.
  • Kubernetes: Production experience with GKE or EKS, including cluster configuration, resource management, Helm, GitOps (Flux) and progressive delivery (Flagger).
  • Terraform: Solid experience with reusable modules, multi-environment infrastructure and automated deployment workflows.
  • CI/CD: GitLab runner architectures across environments and experience migrating workflows to GitLab CI/CD components or GitHub Actions.
  • Serverless: Cloud Run and Cloud Functions, or their AWS equivalents, with an understanding of architectural trade-offs.
  • Cloud Services: Hands-on implementation of secrets management and artifact repositories (Google Artifact Registry / AWS CodeArtifact).
  • Networking & Security: Experience designing or reworking VPC networks, routing, firewall rules and private connectivity.
  • Monitoring: Experience with Datadog or Google Cloud Monitoring.
  • English: Fluent, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an international engineering team.

Additional experience that would be valuable:

  • GCP Cloud Foundation Fabric, Enterprise Foundation Blueprint or Project Factory.
  • Shared VPC, Private Service Connect, HA VPN or Interconnect.
  • Organization Policies, VPC Service Controls, Cloud KMS, Security Command Center or Cloud Armor.
  • Workload Identity Federation and keyless CI/CD authentication.
  • Datadog as Code, Managed Prometheus, PromQL or SLO-based alerting.
  • Renovate, Go or Python for platform automation.
  • GCP Professional certifications.
  • Enterprise platform engineering or retail/e-commerce environments.
  • German language skills.

The engineering mindset

We're particularly interested in professionals who have personally built and improved cloud platforms, not only deployed applications onto existing infrastructure.

You should be comfortable discussing architectural decisions, infrastructure design, production challenges and the reasoning behind your technical choices.

A collaborative approach, familiarity with Scrum and Agile practices, and clear technical communication are equally important.

Working arrangements

You will join a product team collaborating with established platform engineering teams, as part of a growing Cloud Platform engineering group in Bucharest.

The standard working model is hybrid, with 2 days per week in the Bucharest office, although remote arrangements have also been accepted previously.

Both B2B collaboration and employment contracts (CIM) are considered.

If you have strong hands-on cloud engineering experience and enjoy building infrastructure that other engineers can rely on, I'd be happy to discuss the opportunity.
