Here’s What You Can Look Forward To
We are seeking a Senior CloudOps Engineer to join our CloudOps team on a fixed-term 12-month contract.
In this role, you’ll be a senior technical specialist for Quartex’s cloud platform, leading the design, deployment and governance of secure, scalable and highly available infrastructure across AWS.
You’ll set the technical patterns our delivery teams build on, lead complex platform changes and help mentor our CloudOps Engineers. You’ll work closely with Architecture, Engineering, DevOps and SecOps to make sure platform decisions support product growth and our compliance obligations. You’ll thrive if you enjoy solving hard infrastructure problems, raising engineering standards and seeing your work make the platform more reliable.

We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, pragmatic and confident leading technical work across teams. You’ll be able to take a complex platform problem from design through to production, explain trade-offs clearly and lift the capability of the engineers around you.

You’ll set the technical patterns our delivery teams build on, lead complex platform changes and help mentor our CloudOps Engineers. You’ll work closely with Architecture, Engineering, DevOps and SecOps to make sure platform decisions support product growth and our compliance obligations. You’ll thrive if you enjoy solving hard infrastructure problems, raising engineering standards and seeing your work make the platform more reliable.
As Our Newest Senior CloudOps Engineer, You’ll
- Design and run our multi-account AWS environment, including networking, landing zone guardrails and the container (ECS/Fargate) and database (Aurora/RDS PostgreSQL) platforms.
- Set infrastructure-as-code standards and reusable patterns using AWS CDK, CloudFormation and Sceptre, and review designs and changes from other engineers.
- Own platform reliability by designing HA, DR and backup solutions, running DR tests, and managing SLOs, monitoring and capacity.
- Act as a senior escalation point for major incidents, and partner with SecOps and GRC on security controls and audit evidence for SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Drive FinOps practices, evaluate new AWS services and tooling, and mentor CloudOps Engineers as they grow.
We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, pragmatic and confident leading technical work across teams. You’ll be able to take a complex platform problem from design through to production, explain trade-offs clearly and lift the capability of the engineers around you.
You’ll Also Bring
- 5+ years’ experience in CloudOps, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering or SRE, with a strong focus on AWS (and exposure to Azure).
- Demonstrated experience designing and running multi-account AWS environments, including networking, guardrails and centralised logging and identity.
- Experience operating ECS/Fargate and Aurora/RDS PostgreSQL, and with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform or similar).
- Experience defining SLOs, testing DR and backup solutions, and acting as a technical escalation point during major incidents.
- Strong Windows Server and scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and experience with CI/CD tools such as Octopus Deploy.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading cloud cost optimisation would be highly regarded.
- A professional-level AWS certification, or experience producing audit evidence for SOC Type 2 or ISO 27001, would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
